I will call them on Monday but.... We all received flyers in our mailboxes (without postage, violation of postal regs.) from Farmers Disposal. No street address, just a P.O. box. Anyway the flyer claims they are members of the Dorr Business Association yet the association website does not list them as members. Should I sign up with them?

I've seen a few of their carts around that they obviously bought from someone else as the stickers they use aren't big enough to fit over the old label. Anyways, seems like a scam to me. These small trash companies come and go all the time, sooner or later they will go broke or run off with whatever money they can scrape together. Such a poorly managed company is usually set up to fail from the get. Stick to something more legit, less hassle for you.

Farmers is a legit business. Great service and good price. They are a small local company, not a big Chicago based business.

People... this company is great. Price is only $10 per month ($30 for three months)... They are excellent and I got the same flyer. Immediately emailed them and Jim got back to me very quickly. I said sign me up and the next day we had a waste container and I am really glad they offer such a great service for an awesome price. I will continue forever to use them.

So Tell me why any one would listen to a guy from Chicago Ill. about a business in Dorr MI.? Yes I have lived here for over 35 years.....Yes I have bought used garbage cans.....guilty as charged. Now a new question would be why would you pay more for the same service as the giant trash companies? I will gladly take more but I only charge 10.00 per month. Seems fair to me. Why should some one listen to any one who post from Grand Rapids? If you have my flyer then you know where we go. If not please spend your money with the likes of BFI,Waste or Arrow. Thanks Jim

When did it become wrong for a small business to promote itself? Why do people decide to deal with only names they hear on the radio or television 10 times a day? Who do you think pays local taxes to the townships you live in? What will we do when there is finally no more independent business owners out there? Can you call Waste Management or any of the larger companies and talk to the owner? All this BS speculation about Farmers Disposal is such a waste. Please take the time you spend posting this crap and visit a local business for a change instead of a huge chain. Who do you think helped build the communities you live in? Hasn't what has happened over the last several years taught anyone anything?? Buy local before there is no more local! I have had farmers disposal for 6 months now. I personally have spoken to the owner of the company and he eagerly supports local causes and spends his dollars locally. Who do you think has to pay for TV and Radio ads? Could it be that if we would support our neighbor first instead of these huge corporations the world might actually be a better place? Give it a shot for a change and see!

Since when do we consider our brothers in neighboring cities/states as the opposition? Don't forget that the big trash haulers employ drivers right here in Allegan county. Is it really that bad when everybody gets to share in the prosperity? I could understand if the trucks were operated by some Chinese equity firm or something, but for the most part these companies are based somewhat locally.

I switched to Farmers Disposal recently because I am always looking to support local businesses and I was paying $18 per month with a competitor. Now I pay $10. Not only am I happy with the price break, I am impressed with the courteous service. When I call and talk to Jim I am greeted with a respectful tone and not treated like a number. Today I forgot to put out my bin, called him and he offered to swing by in the morning! When I forgot with the last company it would be a $20 call back fee. Referrals are valuable and I have referred friends and neighbors.

I live in Jenison and I have seen these companies come and go. 1 guy starts with a pickup truck and offers low rates. After a while he realizes that he can't do it for he is charging. He either tries to sell to the "evil" big company, or just goes out of business. When that happens his customers are left holding their trash and won't see the money back from what they pre-paid. No thanks, I will stay with the company with reliable updated equipment who gives their drives good wages and good benefits. Remember their drivers live in this area too, and support their families locally.

I understand that need for the cheaper rate. And i have to say that I work for a larger trash company and to be completely honest if I didn't get free trash for working her I would definitely go with a smaller company, less hassel, and more personal due to it is a immediately local, but also have to say that there is nothing wrong with larger companies as we are based out of Jenison Mi and our company is nationwide, but he have the means to take care of everyone in southwest MI.

I have had Farmers for over a year. Excellent service and price, in fact most of my neighbors have switched to Farmers as well. Much better than paying $20 a month and its good to support local business.

Frustrated wrote: Farmers Disposal 1. He worked for another trash hauler while getting his own business started, at times using their equipment to deliver carts. 2. Has stolen carts from his competitors look at the carts they are Potluck Disposals carts from Allendale, MI and older Republic Waste (Allied Waste) carts. Stole the carts and put his stickers on them. THIS IS THE SMALL LOCAL COMPANY THAT YOU WANT IN DORR????????? Do you think those are the only companies that can purchase those carts? For your information those carts can be purchased by anyone, so I suggest you use the word stolen cautiously and be careful who you accuse of stealing!

There is no evidence. I have a bill of sale for all of our carts. This is a smear campaign. that is all. Jim
