Again, myself and my family would like to thank everyone for their support during this extremely difficult time. We just want everyone out there to realize what a wonderful man our dad was and that he was not himself when he left that morning and what a terrible tragedy this truly is. He will be missed by so many. I know that he is looking down on us now wishing he could change what happened. We are in the process of making funeral arrangments, and even in our darkest hour we plan on celebrating his life, his love and his friendship. Thank You again and GOD BLESS!!!

Having recently gone through the loss of employment and dealing with a debilitating illiness, I can somewhat understand the driving force behind Deans action. Leaving a loving famiy and many caring friends as he did, only took away his pain. ALL our prayers go out to those left to pick up the pieces of such a tragic act. I know that Darcie & Kristin are very strong. We believe that in the days to come... your world, as jumbled as it is, will be reorganized through your determination, into a brand new life. OUR prayers are with you. A&L

this would be a good time to bring awareness associated with suffering Diabetes. Employment discrimination abounds. It just sucks to be over 40 with diabetes. Person gets no job, everyone blames a sufferer for being obese. The medications make you put on tonnage. Can't get health care, its bankrupting. No wonder a person newly diagnosed thinks about suicide, its horrible, isolating, morbid totally sucks

you must not be in your 50's. In this job market being over 50 is what I call the 'terrible too's'- too young to retire, too old to start over. I know exactly how he felt.
Totally agree - I have been in this job for 22 years - my boss is going to retire soon - I am 54 - and don't know what I will do next as the younger generation is more in demand than the older generation in my line of work (younger, prettier, skinner, etc) Experience does not count when your "older".

May God give this family the strength it needs to get through this. Depression is a devistating illness and it has claimed more than one life. I just wish he would have gotten help befor taking his own life and putting the people that love him the most threw all this.

Kyle.. I know you don't know me but I worked with your dad and all I can say is that he loved you and Darcie so very much. He was very proud of you that you were graduationg this year and going off to college. As for Darcie that is all he could talk about was her good cooked meals and how much fun they had together such as the casino and trips that they had taken.
I am so very sorry to hear about the loss of your dad. May you make your dad proud from up above and continue your journey of college and being a kind man that you are.
Please make sure you keep us posted on any services that will be for him.
God Bless you!

It would be interesting to find out who the employer was that let him go to fend for himself. Once we find that out, I suggest we boycott them.
Dean worked for Coca-Cola, He was a supervisor in Detroit and transfered to Grand Rapids. Big business is great at hurting lower level management. They should be sued.

Memorial services have been arranged to celebrate the life of this wonderful man. Services will be held on Tuesday, September 9th from 6-8 pm at Heritage CRC in Byron Center. The family is comforted by your kind words and prayers. Only GOD knows why he chose Dean to leave this earth. He will forever live on in the hearts and memories of all those who love him so.

Will there be any funeral services taken place for Dean here in Byron Center or will they be in Detroit?

Memorial services will be held in Byron Center on Tuesday and also in Warren (near Detroit) possibly on Wednesday. Obituaries will be run in the Grand Rapids Press on Sunday and also one will run in the Macomb Press. The family invites everyone who is wanting to pay their respects to attend. Thank You again for all your support.
