So what the hell is the matter with the electricity in Pickett county? Sunday was at least the 3rd day this year already that the juice was out all freaking day.

You can count on the juice going out any time we get a bit of wind and some ran.The rates go up all the time yet the service gets worse and worse. What exactly do they do with the huge profits they make? It sure isnt going back into the system to keep it maintained.

I understand if a bad storm moves thru and it goes out,no problem, but hell its out any time we have a blustery day.

Its just another example of a utilitycompany having you by the sac and knowing youll have to use them or do without.

You can bet the bill aint any cheaper for the month even tho we go sometimes 12 hours without using one watt of power on those windy days.

Your electricity might have been out but I bet you got your meter red. Did you know you pay $10.00 for each time your meter is red? That money goes to haul feed from the co-op and farm supply and do some good deeds thangs and all. You paying fur it!

Donho, your damn right! They charge that $10 fee but they don't ever take no $10 off!!!!!! As I read in another post if they have a super being on staff maybe they should use him to put powers lines together with his bare hands, able to leap downed trees with a single bound, Oh and did I mention it takes 10 men to replace him when he's out? Hummm wonder what his Kryptonite is?????????

Probably moon pie and RC Cola. From lookin at him he ben eating to many of them already. I dont see how he can leap a down tree but if you say so. I know why they get that $10.00 for reading them meters. See if he hurts his back they have to get 3 or 4 people to take his place. They got to save up that money to pay them guys just in case. But I dont like my saving money used to deliver feed from the co-op.

I'v told you before to back off my boy but even I have to admit thats funny Donho...... Donho I think I know who you are, if so why would someone with your power and status just not go away? Why would the little people in Byrdstown be on your radar? Don't worry I won't tell who you are, I feel if you want to thats your choice. Are you really offended or just playing? Some of these things are starting to get serious! When pictures start getting taken and everybodys watching ever move its bad. If the TBI is involved thats awful, you should be ashamed!!
What do you mean with my power? I'm like everybody else my power goes off to. You might have been told that my son-n-law wanted a job with the electric company but that aint ture. For all you know I aint got no son-n-law. My power was out the other day just like everybody elses. One time I did pay my bill for 3 months and they came and got the meter off of the house and all and I couldnt seed nothing at night.
I aint called no TBI yet but I aint likeing my stuff taking off here. It tells me somebody is hideing something. I told everybody it was against the law to get stuff worked on. Then making somebody work on your stuff is more against the law. I thank I will call that newspaper in Cookville today and talk to that person if my truck dont break down again. Im mad today. Here it is raining and my yard aint mowed.
I aint worried about the pictures because I thank I got plenty. I wonder how it feels to drive down a road and the people you are meeting you at you and know you stold from them. I thank I might just quit that job before that TBI got to me. Im telling you I seed what they did to Charlie Logan and he didnt stold a thang. One more thang. I aint playing just look at my yard and my push mower wont start now. It could have already been fixed but I aint no staff.

I agree 100 per cent and I bet when you call the office to report an outage the answer is ..we're working on it! Yeah , whatever! VEC lays the blame on TVA - I don't care who is to blame just fix the damn problem. I've got a good idea take the meter reading pay and apply it to new lines or whatever the problem is. Also, the little "Kitty" that goes to pay some dead beats bill because he won't work - take that money and apply to fixing the power to the paying customers.I agree also they have us by the balls - no one else offers electricity but VEC. This sounds like monopoly to me and I thought that was against the law. Hell, I guess we'll keep bitchin' and they'll have a big cookout/party and keep putting their pictures in their little booklet showing what a wonderful deed they have done because they have took "our" money and gave it to various organizations. WHOPEE I'm impressed!

you could close this office and all the other small offices, move all the line crews to a larger city like cookville then when you have a blackout you would have to wate for linemen to drive a hour to help.I know it cost, but if you lived anywhere else you would pay more for powerIt's the best we got untill they build a new line from Livingston of 69,000 to 140,000 watts that at 20 miles about Est.6 million or more.

Why Livingston they aren't VEC. When your power is out you have to call the office (jamestown maybe) and it still takes hours to get here anyway. All I'm saying is the rate increases from TVA or VEC every month or so. Take this money and do something with it besides paying people to sit on their butts doing nothing. The whole bunch need an attitude adjustment if you ask me ... I think I could at least smile if my job consisted of running the roads, going to school, dollar store, co-op, bank, and basically drawing a free paycheck. Hell, VEC personnel , how would you like to work at a hard job at a 1/3 of your pay - think about it - now SMILE and ANSWER THE PHONE!

You lost me about the phone,i worked shift work for 40 years no one gave me any thing it was not for VEC ,but it was A CO-OP If the workers in Pickett Co arn't putting out there foreman can be replaced start with the CO-OP office in Jamestown Tn. The manager I call Mr.D because I can't remimber his name. He seams to be a fine fellow.
Change will start with you and a phone call these people work for you not you for them.Hang in there.

You all don't know anything about any of the people that work for VEC, nor what they have done for a living before they started working for VEC. It may be that if the majority of you would get off your fat butts and get a job that you wouldn't have time to sit around and take note of every little thing that moved in Byrdstown and maybe all you would complain about is being tired after a long days work from doing what ever you are QUALIFIED to be doing other than running your mouths about topics you know nothing about. If you knew anything about TVA, you would know that with the increased cost of fuel, it costs more to generate the energy to supply enough electricity to run your air conditioner and your television and obviously your computers. No one, especially the VEC board members and its personnell, wants to charge more for the electricity but unfortunately has to do so.
Oh and by the way....board members as well as all VEC personnel has to pay their electric bills just like everyone one else does. If they don't do the job, then they will get someone who will, and they might not be so nice as the ones you all are complaining about, or may not even care about the little town that they come to work in. How would you feel if you had to look at angry faces and frowns all day and hear all those complaints about things that you could do nothing about, but understood because you are a customer too? Would YOU SMILE, probably not, most of you could not take it a week.

What do we supposed to be jealous of? Just because the vec in B-town supposedly listens to complaints and are nice to customers and actually pay their electric bills - we are jealous hmmm. Exactly what is their job and how are they picked for these jobs. The two out front are fairly new - we know how they got their jobs (maybe who you know not how much) and the ones driving the trucks have been there for what 30 years. Since I have a job,I don't follow these guys around to see what their doing ,but I think if I were one of the bosses from what is being said on here - I would maybe question what they are doing on company time - that is if they care. Hey if the big bosses don't care why should we? If the electricity is off due to a fallen tree or something minor it takes just as long to get the power restored as it does if it is a major TVA problem. Where are the servicemen at a ballgame out of town or maybe taking their parents to the doctor or maybe at the co-op or maybe visiting friends and playing the guitar. Who knows do you? Now tell the truth would you rather dig sewer lines or work at vec? And what about sitting on our fat asses with no jobs. I heard that is the kind of people vec likes - I guess they feel special because they have the say whether this one gets cut off or that one is my buddy I'll let them off the hook this month. As for the cost of gas for travelling around reading meters why don't vec have a computer read the meters - afterall they have one to answer the phones when the power is out. We, the customers, don't know if that computer SMILES of not.

I think you are missing the point. Most people appreciate the work the VEC employees put into their jobs. Its the bad apples that take advantage of their job that makes everyone else look bad. VEC knows what he is doing. VEC should stop it.
