I believe he didn't get a fair trial! Watched an episode on " dateline on id ". I believe that chads intent on running into the house was for his own safety. I do believe him when he stated to the corrections officer..to take his kids and leave..and I could see the cockiness of the corrections officer in his interview when he said I wasn't gonna leave my house..that's my home..he needed to leave! I don't think he would have harmed the children or even the corrections officer at all! Chad was in a bind and wasn't sure what to do..but harming the family was not an option! All teenagers ..especially troubled.. have hard times making the right decision! Everyone screws up in life and more than once most often,, and i really believe he knows he messed up and learned from this..his sentencing has been lessoned for a reason people..

I wouldn't act like a tough guy..just because im a corrections officer..and tell the guy with the gun tht I am not leaving my house and he" guy with gun" should get out!! Gees..wake up people..chad didn't want to hurt the family at all..I don't even think it crossed his mind! And do u really think the big and bad corrections officer would allow his sons to nap on the living room floor if he felt like chad was a threat..sittig on couch flipping thru t.v channels! Yeah! Big threat he was...you haters are a joke! Get the facts right

who are you to call me names. For your information I am 5'1 and weigh 100 pounds.I don't dwell on looks and all this has nothing to do with me writing to Chad. That was my decision alone without any ones help. I wrote him just for curiousity to see what made him do what he did. He made a mistake like a lot of people do. So what, hang him for it.Your a rude obnoxious person to be judging people that way and oh, by the way, I send him money too and talk to him on the phone every week.Bla, Blah, Blah asswipe.

No body knows what he went through in life. He was shoved from one home to the next when growing up. People do change. He was raised with foster parents which he won't talk about even with me and I have been writing him for 2 years now. He says it's in the past, and he would have never killed anybody in that house, let alone the boys. They shot him anyway and they didn't have to. If it was one of your kids you would fight for them. Just because you don't know him doesn't give you the right to judge him. He made a mistake and if he could take it all back he would. Pick on Casey Anthony for awhile. She killed her own child and got away with it.

chad was dragged from home to home which he won't talk about and if he could take it back he would. He's says it's in the past. Pick on Casey anthony for awhile. She killed her kid and got away with it. Chad wouldn't have shot the kids or the guard. They ended up getting shot anyway so he payed for what he did plus he won't get out til 2028 and murderers and rapists get out in let time. For manslaughter your out in 8 years. Is that fair and murder I've seen people get probation. So think about it. I think I'd rather see Chad on the street than someone who really killed someone.

I can't believe I'm reading people sticking up for this low life! That is what is wrong with society. Sick people willing to coddle criminals and make excuses for them. There are a lot of people who have had rough lives who don't go robbing banks and putting people's lives in danger. What if someone died during the high speed chase???

I dont think any of you ignorant people have the right to judge anyone! This man might have been in and out of trouble as a kid but depression will make people do bad things! Chad is a relative of mine and when he did this I was a kid and he was never a danger to me! He let those kids go because he is not an evil person!!!!

I went to school and was befriended several times by Chad Austin in Concord NH, back in the early 90's. He was, and still is an arrogant trouble maker and NOT highly intelligent. He spent some of his high school years in an alternative school before dropping out. He was arrogant due to his father being in law enforcement. He had the perception that his father could get him out of anything. Not this time Chad....

That's because your really smart. Paul just wanted to be the macho man. He wanted to make himself look soo powerful. In fact I think it made him look so stupid in the end. He should of listened to Chad instead of trying to be some super hero.

He was very convincing with his defense arguments. He didn't hurt the boys or Hardy. Yes he should get jail time, but 20 years is way to long. Where is he currently? This shows how crazy the judicial system is!!! Maybe he will better his education and become an attorney, when he gets released..he was good representing himself..
yes my baby is a very smart man.I'm proud to be apart of his life. some times murders get less time in jail. The system is very screwed up
