Hagan supports recognition of Lumbees

Hagan has a lot of plates to twirl...NOW, she's pissed off the blacks across NC for FIRING two top black aides for no real reason.'personnel issues are not discussed' She hired Col. Fred Aiken one day and fired him the next, no reason given. The Wilmington NAACP is making big noise, and in this matter are to be commended.

The Lumbees of ENC have had decades to prove their tribal history. Why havent they dont their part?
They probably are related to the Cherokee.

He recently had a heated discussion here with another poster regarding the Lumbee Indian. I assume he being married to an enrolled member of the EBCI that he has an inside track on all things Native American - or so he thinks.

But it will be interesting to hear what he has to say.

Didn't anyone else bother to read that the only insistence the Cherokee, Rep. Shuler, and all law abiding people are asking demanding is that the so called lumbee simply follow the law on the federal recognition of tribes. The lumbee know they are a mongrel pack of former run away slaves and scum sucking criminals and know they can't ever honestly gain tribal status. This is why they repeatedly side step the law and go in for bribery and back room deals to try to get what isn't theirs to have.

The mere fact that Ronald supports it should be a red flag to everyone that it is all about redistribution of tax payer money to yet another group that does nothing to deserve it.

Agree with you...the "pretendians" are no better than the mexicans and others to "go the correct route" for recognition and benefits without looking for shortcuts. In my understanding, all they need do is show documention of their ancestry. Can they do it? That's questionable.

How many casinos are in Las Vegas? Some piss ant second rate casino in Lumberton is no threat. The lumbee have no other attraction either scenic or cultural to keep people there.

The issue with the lumbee wannabes have gone back well before the casino. It has always been the Cherokees rightful contention that the lumbee were never a tribe, and the Cherokee should know, since they controlled all that land for thousands of years before the invaders came and pressed their rules on yet another free people.

Maybe a smart legislator, obviously not Kay Hagan, she sluts herself out to anyone godless Americans and nonexistent indians, could ask the Cherokee for their records as far back as possible on the SE region. Bet they wont show some fake tribe called the lumbee.

Im not against them becoming a recognized tribe but their are rules in place to get to that point. Smells like Kay is wanting votes, what a better way then to promiss them this for a few votes.

Just a funny side note here. That is exactly what Liddy Dole did to get a voting block. She promised the lumbee that no matter whether they were a tribe or not she would get them a vote in the Senate if they got her elected. Seems Kay is as slimy as she made Liddy out to be after all.

How was the EBCI recognized? By legislation put forth by the United States Congress,, not some government bureacracy. The Lumbee are asking for the same process that the EBCI received. Read the United States Constitution, it gives the United States Congress the right to handle ANY dealings with Indian Tribes! Yall need to quit tripping and take a Civics class! Michelle Hicks is a hypocrite,, he would go against any of you if you ever crossed him,, so quit taking up for him!! Don't brown nose!!

Big and really only relevant difference here. The Cherokee were here when the settlers invaded and there are white peoples records acknowledging the Cherokees right to the land and their tribal status. The lumbee have none of that. They just suddenly sprung up like a herpes out break that just wont go away, once a group of slackers learned they could get money from the government for nothing.

Do you have a single historical document proving the lumbee were in the area at any point in history? Can you prove a single line of genetic heritage for the lumbee? Remember that 1/8th is the standard so a lumbee would have to prove their lineage and on top of that they would have to prove they had a significant amount of tribal blood. Of course lest we forget a 'tribe' determines its own levels for enrollment. The lumbee have a current any claim counts rule, making their blood so mixed no genetic test can be preformed.

Michele Hicks is actually a great guy but yeah as a rabid advocate for the Cherokee he would rip you to pieces if need be. I have offered and stated I would make every effort to get the Cherokee to agree. Let the lumbee, all willing, come forward and drop their claim, take a blood test. If they are Native American the markers will be there and there is no reason why, since the Cherokee originally held all that land anyway, that the Cherokee couldn't allow those former lumbee to become enrolled members. That would allow the few obviously Indian so called lumbee to become recognized for the ethnicity they are. It would weed out those whites and blacks that are just lazy wastes of skin that need to get jobs and stop telling lies and trying to live off the government. Of course this wont work simply because the lazy scum out number the possibly real Indians.

It diminishes all Native Americans when a group of liars with no heritage and no documented history try to gain equal status to those that bleed and died on this land and for this land long before the pale face fork tongue arrived.

The lumbee have nothing and can prove nothing. Look them up and see the beautiful stories of how they suppose they came to be. Then ask how do they know, they never give an oral history, and can they prove anything? All the events they name as their founding just happen to be historically unprovable.

Let me get this straight,,, 50,000 people have been BRAINWASHED to believe that they are Indian when in fact they are all a bunch of mixture of white and black. Okay, so why don't these 50,000 people claim to be white or black. Whites and blacks have it a whole lot better than any Indian, no matter how wealthy their casino has made them. BTW, in 1885 when the North Carolina government recognized the Lumbee people, there was no money fallen out of the sky for Indians. You might want to think about all of this before you type in anymore of Hicks talking points.
