Best thing I have heard about this crook. Wish the online fraud center would publish the rest of his dirty dealings because it's not just fraudulent checks.

And I looked at Bill Buck's myspace picture of the phony check Justin sent him - compared it myself to my scan of Justin's supposed handwriting and it's a MATCH!

I didn't like Bill very much but congrats to him on finally coming through instead of bitching about it all the time.

I'm glad they got him. I hate crooks.

I just saw the news article about this. I am so relived and happy to see him go to jail. Bill Buck, I'm sure our checks match as well! I had filed a complaint with the Butler PD so hopefully it helped. Thanks to the person who filed with the FBI and everything, you did a good thing.

A Butler man was sentenced yesterday for writing a bogus money order for almost $2,000 this past summer.

Court papers say 29-year-old Justin Castilyn made a counterfeit money order from a retail store chain to pay $1,950 for 212 video games. When his victim went to cash the money order, he was told it was a phony.

Authorities say that Castilyn has thus far, written up approximately $13,656 in bogus transactions using the fake money orders. For this case, he was sentenced to 1 to 2 years in jail followed by two years' probation, plus restitution to the victim.

No prison is a hotel

After some consideration, I have decided to respond to the outrageous claims in Raymond Schmidt's July 7 letter to the editor, "Criminals got resort, not jail."
In his letter, Schmidt states that inmates pictured in a July 1 Butler Eagle front-page photo had their feet up, one inmate had a drink in his hand, blah, blah, blah.
Now it's time for me to point out some facts.
Everything an inmate possesses that is to say, cups, coffee, playing cards, etc. the inmate purchases from the prison commissary. The money spent on these "luxury" items goes to the prison and is money that does not come out of taxpayers' pockets.
Schmidt goes on to ask, "Whatever happened to dungeons for these criminals?"
The dungeon was the old Butler County Prison. I also would like to point out that not everyone in the Butler County Prison is a convicted criminal. Anyone can be arrested. So, upon arrest, we lose all rights as a human? I guess Schmidt thinks so.
Schmidt continued his tirade by stating, "Send them out to pick up roadkill." To my knowledge, that's called community service.
Butler has inmates on community service that might include picking up roadkill.
"We should have found an old warehouse and filled it with cells," Schmidt said.
That idea would have cost millions and it would have put the community as well as the guards in danger.
The new prison was built to save money. The new prison saves money on out-of-county housing, sheriff costs, etc. The new prison had to be built. One reason, the old prison was a mess. It was not livable.
The conditions stunk, not only for the inmates but also for guards. The old jail was so small that the guards ate meals in the hallway, and the nurse's station was a closet.
The counselors made a makeshift office out of a hallway corner.
I could go on for hours.
How do I know so much about the old Butler County Prison? Because I spent time there.
I am not proud of my past actions, but I have spent 21 months of my life behind bars Butler County Prison bars. No prison is a hotel.
You would never know if you saw me that I am a felon. Since I'm a felon, do I deserve to live in a dungeon?
I used my time. I now have a college degree.
I will be moving back to Butler someday and I hope I do not come into contact with a person as misinformed as Schmidt about our justice system and criminals in general.
