haha terrible students?? that's funny. i was one of those so-called terrible students. i just graduated last year & i have never touched drugs & I'm in college now. also, i didn't think the school was bad. sure, it's small, but what do you expect? most of my teachers were good. also, they just re-did the school so it looks great.

The schools are good. they are currently starting to re-finish the elm. schools and just finished the high school. The schools may be small but I've seemed to do well considering that I have straight A's and went to Southern, the middle school and is a junior now. :)

Personally, I might be a litle biased, because I teach at Sharp Middle School. I also grew up in Pendleton County and graduated from UK with two degrees. School is what you make of it. I think it is a great place to learn if you want to learn. It amazes me that so many people bad mouth our county and schools, but when state department representatives come in to our schools, they have high praise for our students' attitudes, behavior, and respect. Compared to other teachers I speak with at conferences, I don't have near the problems with my students, parents, etc, compared to them. I love teaching in Pendleton County. My son's test scores are at the highest level in the state and he attends Southern Elementary.

I disagree with there being more bad than good. There are MANY good students at all of those schools. Every town has students, parents, etc that are good and bad.

I would love to know where you all get that these schools are good. Yeah they used to be good when went there, now they are absolutely horrific. I have a daughter and son and I took them out of these schools. It's not the schools, it is the teachers,if that is what you want to call them. My daughters kindergarten teacher called her an idiot to her face because she wouldn't sit in her seat when the teacher asked her to. Yeah needless to say we went rounds with her. My son and daughter go to a way better school now where they actually learn something. PC is so far behind other schools. And the girl talking about her kid having the high test scores. "My son's test scores are at the highest level in the state and he attends Southern Elementary." Maybe its because you are a teacher. DUH!!!! I wouldn't ever tell anyone to put your kid in a school here. I would say no, find another school. These are HORRIBLE!!!!

The reason my kid has the highest test scores is because he learns the information at school and his mom takes the time at home to make sure he understands it. I can't tell you how important since I majored in child development that a parent plays in whether students learn if they take the time to work with students. You can't expect a teacher with 28 kids in a class to do it alone. You have to have all the factors in place. I am sorry that you had such a horrible experience with a kindegarten teacher, but my son's kindegarten teacher had him reading on a 3rd grade level before he left kindegarten. Personalities will clash at times with kids and teachers. That is where you as the parent have to put in a little extra effort. I know that my students learn in middle school about budgeting, savings, colleges, stocks, bonds, career choices, car insurance, product comparison and much more. Don't stereotype a whole county or all teachers in this county because you had a bad one. The parents need to work with the teacher instead of against them.

it amazes me how it is always the teachers fault and some parents just can't face the fact that sometimes their kids are the guilty ones find out all the details before you blame anyone

Daily Horoscope for November 27

Gemini

Venus and Mars egg each other on, tempting you towards social and sexual excess. You're far too wise to find yourself in bed with a stranger, but keep the alcoholic drinks to a minimum anyway. You wouldn't want to get wild and then realize you've had a one-night stand with the boss's niece or nephew. Avoid iffy situations.
