I live up past the section of trailers by the new apartments on Weier Road in Pevely. That block of trailers is the trashiest place I've seen.(We moved here hoping they would be bought out 3 years ago, but not so far).

A few of the trailers have litters of children between ages about 4-11. These kids, 6-8 of them at a time, are always out playing in the streets. It is incredibly unsafe. The one family has constructed a dufus cardboard sign in a sharpee reading "Children at play, slow down". I want to put a sign on the side of my car saying "Streets are for driving, keep your kids out of it". And it seems as though the adults have "trained" them to sit (literally, sitting criss cross applesauce) in the middle of the road. When a car comes, you have to stop before they even look up to get out of the way. And to top it off, the littlest one, about 4 or 5, flips you off as you pass!

These people may not have big yards, but they do have at least a side yard. And, guess what? There's a park down the street for bike riding and more playing - TAKE YOUR KIDS THERE AND SPEND TIME WITH THEM.

How disgusting and trashy do you have to be to allow your children to play in the street with no supervision? My hope is that by some chance they have the internet, read this, and get a clue.

I have, and I know other neighbors have, called the police on them due to neglect of the children being out without supervision. I'm in the child welfare field and next step is hotline. These people are garbage.

Just a vent... anyone else around here notice this problem?

Also, rat-tails and mullets are plentiful - just a side note. Oh, and the littlest one also always has several inches of his rear end hanging out of his shorts - and none of them wear shoes... ridiculous hoosiers.

Those are more personal rants, but whatever...:)

If you are in the Child Welfare Field, then you would be a mandated reporter? If that is the case, and you really feel there is an issue, why are you posting about it on line and not making the call? If you are concerned enough to post on line, then you are concerned enough to call. Need the number?

I have dealt with DFS and have seen it in other situations and unless there is horrific circumstances they dont do anything. You can hotline a family and the Division has 24 hours to investigate, that they will do , but anything after that is up in the air.

i used to live in weir trailer court as a kid (thats what i believe ur talking about), now the old man son runs the place and all i have to say is if his dad was still alive u wouldnt see any of that junk happening!!!!! but honestly the kids in the street in Pevely happens every where... People get your brats under control, mine arent allowed to run the streets and never have... not saying not to let ur kids go anywhere, but here in the city limits u see kids out all hours of the night. all u who let ur kids run loose and going to be grandparents before u know it.... or attending ur kids funeral because he or she got hit by a car.......

I have made a hotline and police calls in the past, when there are lots of kids out with no supervision. But as the other person said, DFS comes to investigate but unless something crazy is happening or there are marks on the kids they don't go any further. Plus, the DFS system is lacking in that when they do make visits, they are announced. The people know they're coming so of course things are going to be under control when they get there. I think it's silly sometimes. It's just annoying the lack of decency in some people...

ok I live in this subdivision and it is plain stupid! I have called DFS myself and nothing is being done. I have called the cops and nothing is being done. This is crap. You know when I was kid around here yea I would play in the street too. But we had the common sense to get the hell out of the road when a car is coming. These kids just stand there and expect u to move. Its so ridiculous! And the parents are no better. I saw them the other week letting there kids play in one of those big moving dumpsters. I couldnt believe it. They think they own the whole street. Im sick of it!

Monday evening the parents were standing out in the rain like a buntch of goof balls when it was lightening. As far as the dumpster across the street its probably cleaner that the inside of their home...it get rained in and dumped out.

Update - last week as I was driving to work the main parent of the biggest litter of children was guarding the dead body of his dog someone had just run over. Oh, how I wanted to scream at him 1) you shouldn't have a freaking dog and let it run loose and 2) (I hate to say this) I hope they get at least somewhat of a clue that that could have been one of their kids easily. It's hard to feel sad for idiots like that...

I just moved to this subdivision and because we are just needing a place to live while we build our house. We needed something inexpensive so we could pour our money into our house. I didn't think it would be that bad until we moved in. I hate it and quite frankly am pretty ashamed to live here. I came from a very very nice town and to have to live here is pretty much torture. I told my husband I doubt I can handle it more than a couple of months. I totally agree with the kids all over the street issue. I couldn't believe how everyone just lets their kids roam around everywhere without any supervision. When I was moving in I had about 5 kids just show up in my living room one day. Just walked right in. I wouldn't dare let my child just walk into some strangers house. So, yes this subdivision is pretty bad, hell I am too embarrassed to even invite my family up. It's actually kinda scary and I worry about my children living here. I just know I can't get out of here soon enough. Definetely a lesson learned here: no matter how short of a period that you are going to live somewhere, research it first, spend plenty of time in the neighborhood and ask around before you move in.

I have lived here in the back area in a house for about 10 years. When I moved here all of the mobile homes on willow were owned by retired people and it was nice they keept what they had nice. There are a few that still try but for the most part it is trash. We are seriously looking to get out of here

What Subdivision are you talking about? Is it Ancient Oak? I live on Mountain Ash and to get here we have to drive by a few ratty trailers but we also have to drive by the Projects of Pevely which are not any better. Wish we had another way into our subdivision or even better if the Weier's would just go ahead and buy our houses to expand there property.

Yes, Ancient Oak - same exact area. What do you consider the Projects of Pevely? The new apartments? I don't know much history about the area/the Weiers and all that... I grew up in So Co. Have you heard any rumors lately about buyout?

I had heard a few years ago that The Weiers were slowly buying up land since there property backs the majority of our subdivision. It is a shame that the mayor wont respond or help us out in anyway.

Are you serious? Can you read? We have all done something - DFS doesn't do anything but come out on an Announced Visit, then does nothing beyond it. Police will just drive by as the children step aside for a minute then go back to what they were doing. At the end it says, "Just a vent", you know? Something to discuss with others who are having the same issue, this being a CHAT FORUM and all. Do you know what the word "forum" means?... you are the same kind of moron we're talking about obviously.
