Going to be in Glen Ellyn area for weekend of September 30/October 1. Any suggestions of places to go for dinner, dancing, live entertainment? First visit to the area, since forever and I'm sure a lot has changed.

The only place for nightlife within all of DuPage County, Illinois is, as of now, the Sky Nightclub, located at 16th street and Route 83 in Oak Brook.

What style music is at the Sky? May be dating myself, but was looking for 50s, through the 80"s music. Maybe old rock or slower.

Unfortunately, the Sky nightclub only plays today's (2000s, 2010s) music. They never play any slow songs there. In fact, the closest clubs to Chicagoland that have any history of playing slow songs are located in Southwest Florida.

In fact, I even hear slow dancing may be illegal in Illinois. Especially as public display of affection is illegal in Illinois.

There is no more nightlife in the Glen Ellyn area. Sky Nightclub not only is closed for good, but the parcel once occupied by the club is last seen occupied by a "Once Upon a Child" store.

Glen Ellyn is strictly a business-only city. In fact, all of DuPage County, Illinois is strictly business only. There are a lot of places for dinner, but there is no dancing, live entertainment, or any type of social mingling in DuPage County, Illinois. In DuPage County, Illinois, everyone is expected to give everyone a minimum 25 foot berth at all times and is forbidden to interact with any strangers unless it is strictly business-related.

Sorry man, but the closest nightlife facility to Glen Ellyn appears to be Tavern on LaGrange, located in west suburban LaGrange. The other option would be Blackjack's Gentlemen's Club in Elgin.

What in the blazes are you talking about? As far as I know it, the Sky Nightclub never re opened anywhere at all. Not in Lombard, not in Glen Ellyn, not in Downers Grove, not in Naperville, not anywhere.

Again, DuPage County, Illinois IS A STRICTLY BUSINESS-ONLY community! You are not even allowed to talk to strangers unless it is business-related; in fact, it is ILLEGAL under State law in Illinois to talk to strangers unless it is business-related! In DuPage County, people live strictly to work. All work, no play. They are at work 126 hours a week and never have time for anyone; even if you met a so-called "friendly" waitress at your favorite restaurant, if humans and Planet Earth lived forever, she NEVER would have time to take you to Brookfield Zoo within less than 25 billion years!

No it's not. I was walking in Naperville today and a random stranger said hi to me, and I said him back.

I go to car shows all the time and interact with people and never have a problem.

Do you even go out in your own community? Or do you just get all your info from Alex Jones and InfoWars? Because that is what this seems like. It seems like conspiracy theory garbage.

When my wife and I got together in 2014, she worked in Lisle, and worked a normal 40 hour work week and had time to date. I dated a woman in Naperville and we spent plenty of time together. Again, 40 hour work week.

When I lived in Wheaton, every Friday and Saturday night I'd see people out and about downtown.

One of my best friends and her wife live in DuPage County and they go out and do things all the time.

Take the fedora off, shave the neckbeard, and get out and actually see that it's not that bad!

Because you're dressed up like a millionaire! I literally can see you in that expensive business suit, dark gray, complete with a tie, classy long pants, long sleeves, dressed like it's in the low 60s Fahrenheit with zero humidity even when it's 95 degrees outside. almost looking like you're going to high school prom all over again. And I easily know that all your "conversations" with these people you're interacting with at car shows are strictly business related.

No actually. I don't dress up in business suits. Not unless it's an interview or a funeral.

And they're not business related. They're just people talking cars, about their cars, car culture, it's not all business.

You don't know me so stop assuming.

Oh and by the way, Ex Chicagoan, there are places in Oak Brook where there are piano bars, I should know because I was at a resort in Blooomingdale with my wife and the guest staff was recommending it to someone ahead of me.

There are rumors and evidence that the Lucky Strike Lounge & Bowling Alley at Yorktown Mall has also closed for good.

While Lucky Strike is gone, there's bowling in pretty much every town in the county, plus Pinstripes is in Oak Brook.

You, Dave, are pipe dreaming!

In DuPage County, Illinois, all conversations, especially with strangers, are strictly business related. Nobody in DuPage County ever talks, especially with strangers, about their recent trip to Wisconsin Dells, Great America, Rainbow Falls, the local county fair, Disney World, etc. And I mean nobody. Not waitresses, not bartenders, not car show customers, not college students, not cheerleaders, not vendors, not shopping mall shoppers, not fellow bowlers at bowling alleys, not fellow bikers and joggers on the Prairie Path, not people in the general neighborhood, nobody.

I've worked in DuPage since 2015 and my wife has worked in DuPage for the better part of a decade.

You're really saying that people that have lived here and worked here are "pipe dreaming?" Maybe it's you that should put down "the pipe" and get out there and see this isn't true.

Nope. People that live and work in DuPage County, Illinois are strictly about business, and only business. And again, any and all conversations, especially between strangers in DuPage County, are always business-related. Their adventures and lives outside the work/business zone are kept strictly private and to themselves.

I can tell that you are pipe dreaming like for example you think your favorite Hooters girl of Downers Grove is going to take you to Disney World next week or something.

1) I'm married.
2) I haven't been to Hooters in a better part of a decade.
3) I wouldn't ask a Hooters girl out if I were single because they get hit on constantly.

You have no idea, because honestly, everyone at my work is talking a lot about what goes on outside of work.

It's actually a capital felony under Federal law for a man to ask a woman out in the United States. Under Federal law, if a woman wants a relationship, she needs to make the first move and show visible interest. It's been like that since 2017. Violators face easily up to 375 years to life in Federal prison and/or the death penalty.
