SD 146 approves $1M tax abatement
February 25, 2013 7:00PM
Property taxes might not go down as a result, but Tinley Park-based Community Consolidated School District 146 plans to abate $1 million to taxpayers over a three-year period.
The District 146 board unanimously approved a resolution earlier this month at the recommendation of Supt. Jeff Stawick, according to a district news release.
Stawick said the district had a $1 million surplus in the fiscal year that ended June 30 and “healthy fund balances,” including a $16 million balance projected for its educational fund at the end of the current fiscal year, according to budget figures on the district website.
District business director Jeff Charleston said “tax bills will go up less than they would have” without the abatement, because the district is accepting less money than it is entitled to under the property tax system.
The abatement will be reflected in the fall tax bills of 2013, 2014 and 2015, the district said.
The district serves parts of Tinley Park, Orland Park and Oak Forest.

Are you three going to stick to your story that Moody was wrong and the abatement was wrong and couldn't be done? Why is it that the Tinley Park trustees didn't go to that SD 146 meeting and complain about the inhumanity of it all? Do you even know the difference between abatements and rebates. All you did was cost every homeowner tax money because you don't like Moody, and didn't understand the law. Thanks "leaders".

SOUTHTOWN Phil Kadner did a story on the Chicago Ridge School District 127.5 School abatement issue.
He concluded that the School Board lost credibility with the tax payers when they voted down the abatment.
Lynn Barker was the one who killed the Abatement. Now She Wants Your Vote April 9th.

Just your typical response, from the VAP on something which is truthful. You took money away from the CR citizens and this is how you respond. Makes it easy to decide which Village Clerk I'll be voting for this April.

Kadner is an idiot. Why would one of the top 10 poorest school districts give money back!!!! Let it die. All this would have been was a credit reduced on your bill no check as MOOODdeeee presented to all the seniors. And it was equivalent to about $5 or 20 Depending on your property..... the board voted taxes raised the next meeting after they voted to give this crap back so they would have given it back and taken back right after......just stupid was better off not to give it back at all. I love how people think they were going to be so rich if only for Barker!! She fought along with a lot of other people to keep that money for the kids. She wasn't the only one. Problem is she's the only one running for office now. Where was Schleyer's voice during the abatement. How bout the fact that your all mighty independent sat back and did nothing. You wouldn't have even noticed your riches.

Barker raised our property taxes 12 Years in a Row.
Barker Voted to give Balderman $9,000 for superintendent training.
Barker led the effort to defeat the 400,000 abatement.
Barker voted to remove hot dogs and pizza from our school menu so as not to offend muslim population.
Barker voted to remove any mention of the word CHRISTMAS from our schools.
Barker is Out Of Touch.
Barker LOST in 2011 and will loose again.

Well welcome to Topix Georgie Pordgie Puddin' Pie! This is the exact crap that George is touting at the doors now that I have your attention let's get some of your crap straight. Lynn and the rest of the school board and every school board before and after her voted for the levy which is what every board Park, Village and even your running mates Library board does! it's were you get your money to function. If you EVER sat on a board you would know this! Balderman would have been a win for the community. The meager tuition and time that he would have expended would have been a wash to the amount of grants he could have brought in. This was long before his pension scandal. You are only bringing this up because any mention of his name and giving him money are sure to stir up people. Nice try. Lynn and a lot of people did not want the abatement. Hot Dogs and Christmas!!!! I'd like to see the minutes of the meeting that show any board voting on this! The school decides the menu not the board. Just like at lent when they offer meatless dishes on the menu for Fridays! You are a douche!

paying Baldermann any amount would have been a loss.at the time he was are police chief and mayor of new lennox.we need a fultime police chief in this town.mrs Barker thought it was a good idea to have a part time police chief with full time pay.
