Burnside is apparently getting ready to increase in size, expanding up to 914! Good news!

Creating business opportunities along the Hwy 27 corridor for restaurants that serve alcohol will undoubtedly help the entire county, and in turn the surrounding Lake Cumberland community.

I don't see how expanding Somerset's tax base while restraining local businesses with the yoke of PROHIBITION would have done the same.

When the thread came up "Things are about to get alittle more interesting around Somerset" I thought about Burnside just annexing Somerset altogether. lol

PROHIBITION still exists in Burnside too tho. I heard it was just the one side of 27 going to 914 and Waitsboro would not be annexed. Is that correct or not?

Hey man, can Burnside vote on going completely wet or does it have to be the whole county? I'm to lazy to look it up.

It cannot, not unless they get the state legislature to reclassify them from a 5th class to a 4th class city.

Maybe they could try to pull a fast one like girler tried in Somerset, i.e. annex some huge population center to give them enough population to move to a 4th class city.

I don't think Burnside would do that, they have more sense than the town up the road.

Burnside may be interested in commercial property annexation now..but sooner or later it will include residential area. Neither somerset nor Burnside would have given us the services that come from being inside the current city limits. So, why pay the extra tax money? I have no problem with the commercial property..but say no to residential with benefits!

True PROHIBITION still exists in Burnside, though to a lesser extent than the rest of the Lake Cumberland region. Perhaps with this expansion it will hasten the death of that antiquated restriction to small business.

I'm not exactly sure about the geographic area in question. I do believe it's both sides of 27 going north, just the road.

Individual property owners would be given the choice of joining Burnside or not.

It's a murky law anyways. Supposedly to qualify as a 4th class city you have to have a population of 3000.

Many 4th class cities in Kentucky do not, yet they're still qualified as such. It is really just up to the whims of the state.

How many restaurants were sitting in North Burnside prior to the by-the-drink vote?

That's right. Now cry some more.

No doubt about it. Millions are lost to Madison and Garrard counties every year, not to mention Tennessee!

And how many have flocked to the old Renos building? Whats the point if they continually open and close under different names all the time? Sooo much for the need of a alchol drink when you eat!

You're right. I know, why don't you get some out-of-town preachers to try and repeal alcohol sales in Burnside. It worked out so well last time, didn't it?

And learn to spell ALCOHOL. That's twice you've screwed that one up.

Comrade,be careful how you use the image of a great martyr for the cause of Marxism.i have seen many times you use this great crusaders image to argue for alcohol, but my comrade let me ask you as I have others in the capitalist circle here, why has the Cuban peoples never had a wet dry vote as you are to call it here.Who is the greater oppressor of its peoples free choices? How would you and others answer this question?Which faction truly delivers more freedom of choice to its peoples?

Comrade, thank you for the change of avatar, but again this black messiah, haha! is repressive fascist. We have big laugh at yankees over your president, him and the others since Kennedy. They bombard you with their freedom propaganda, but who refuses to have free trade with who.Who invaded who and with criminal refugees(Bay of Pigs, another American CIA disaster). As to free speech, the peoples of this and other communist islands are already aware of what american policy is as they are reminded of who will not allow Cuban cigars and rum to be brought into United States, when they are legally sold at Cuban airports to departing tourists.you Americans will say communism is evil and why, because we punish people who sell drugs or possess them.In Cuba if you are convicted of having drugs or selling them you receive ten years to fifteen years with no parole of hard labor of which you receive little to no payment during your sentence and here in United States what is the punishment for this crime.Cuban jails are not a partyground for criminals and unlike American jails our criminals do not want to go back to them as it should be punishing. The illegals you speak of here are not allowed here and are often warned to turn back or many times killed if they disobey the command, and again you in United States, cry to world evil Communist regime,ha!Cuban peoples have alcohol, gambling and island wide nude women shows and service, and you on here, what have you any of these legally.Again, perhaps each person needs to examine which is the greater suppressor of personal freedoms.
