Only confirmed are texas roadhouse and steak n shake at this point. There are rumblings of Kohl's being the "big box" retailer that the developer is referring to in the news articles.. but all just hear-say at this point.

Except they slice their meat and cheese in house....the gargantuan sub they make is loaded with meat, unlike subway. I like them a lot better.

Kohls is not coming. They look at Somerset and Corbin but chose Corbin.

Texas Roadhouse is coming? They do a pretty good steak, for a chain outfit. Their Texas sized country fried steaks are pretty tasty too as I remember. Anyone know where they are setting up at?

Texas Roadhouse is going in at the new shopping center where the L&N is located.

Kohl's= not exciting.
Target= would be very exciting as competition to WallyWorld and Kmart.
But, don't think Somerset/Pulaski County has the population base to support 3 major retailers at this time.
I could see some new tenents in Somerset Mall but, that place needs a serious facelift to improve its image. Recently heard about few national clothing chains that are looking to expand and open new stores. Lets hope they look to Somerset.
Again, I think the demand exists for an outlet center/mall in Somerset. It could potentially attract shoppers from all bordering counties and into north Tennessee. The south end of hwy 914 between south US 27 and the new 1247 would be ideal for such a retail center.

I think Texas Roadhouse has pretty awful food. Steaks leave a lot to be desired.just cheap eats. What Somerset could use is a Columbia's Steakhouse. Steak done properly. Oh that would be good.
I also think a Chili's restaurant, though not great, would be acceptable and do good business here.

Has anyone thought of how nice it would be to have a Nice quality restaurant that served Fish? I'm talking Mahi-Mahi or yellow-tailed Snapper, maybe some Tuna steaks and other salt water fish. Along with shrimp, Lobster. Etc. and of course an excellent steak too.

I don't know of anywhere I can go get a great Surf n Turf. Great steak & a lobster. Mmm mmm good! That would be excellent here.

Somerset needs real jobs that pay a good wage. What we don't need is low paying retail and food industry jobs with New York style ad agencies brain washing consumers that buying stuff and eating lots of calories is the key to our success. Wanting nice things and a good meal are not bad, but where do people get money to buy these.

Good point. Got to have the good jobs to afford the all the good stuff. I don't have a clue what business enterprise would go over well.
Need to start making stuff in America again instead of china.

Get rid of Bilderberg puppet Democrats and Republicans, get in leaders who will return is to FAIR trade policies, and the jobs WILL return. Until then, just bend over and take the paddlings, because it will only get worse from here.

You hear this over and over again. Somerset needs "real jobs that pay a good wage." You are correct. However, the problem is that most of the people in this area who what these "good jobs" are not qualified for them and are unwilling to do what is necessary so they will be qualified. The days of hiring someone and then investing time and money to train them are long past. If you don't have experience, or the appropriate training and can't hit the ground running, you are simply not marketable. People who make it in this world go where the jobs are. They don't wait for the jobs to come to them.

Nope. The alcohol will create those good paying jobs. After all, that was the promise.

The real problem at least from where I sit is the mentality. We can't have nice things because we don't have nice people. I am sorry but small mindedness rules the day in a place like Somerset(with the good ol' boy system to boot). To follow up on what Same Old Story said...The other issue is serious lack of education and a horrible sense of entitlement. You are not entitled to a good paying job unless you have the education for one. If you don't have the education for one nor the drive to get the education then what you can get is a job at McDonalds or other food service places.
