Tom was a lousy player in high school too and his attitude stinks.

Where is the Dick Gingrich, Gary Rowe,Jack Crozier, Don DeArmitt's, and others like them in twp schools today? Maybe they could use some like them. Incidently these are people that was the very first ninth grade class (1959) to attend the School that Indian Valley HS uses today.

His Attitude is horrendous. My niece plays in the IVHS band she she has told us that Shearer told the band director what songs the band can and cannot play at the games.

Also, I've been told directly by sever players who I know that they don't tackle in practice (evident by the tackling in games) and that only the first string practices, the others stand and watch all practice.

I've also witnessed infighting by some of the coaches at games, particularly Huntingdon.

Now I know they won their last 2, but Bellefonte is WAY down this year and Lewistown...well we just own them. I think it's time the school board does for IV what it did for LAHS and look outside of the district for some fresh faces and ideas.

I remember when Shearer got hired and said that we'd run the same offense as what Stoker had here. Well, it hasn't even been close.

Don't blame the coach. Kids in this area (and especially in Lewistown) are too easily influenced by distractions - X Box, MTV, cell phones, twitter, faceboox, blackberries, myspace, MP players, text messaging and all that other nonsense. All you need is a thumb.

In my day we didn't have that crap. We could focus on the important stuff.

To excel at football requires a lot of hard work. There aren't many kids around here who will put in the kind of time needed.

Not sure I buy that completely. Lewistown and IV both put out great (and even state championship) basketball teams, baseball teams, wrestlers, etc. and in a lot of the cases its the same kids who play on the football team. I think a lot of it is in the coaching, the playbooks passed from coach to coach, etc.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Scorpio

A loved one is very assertive under the Full Moon tonight. You'll only make it worse if you come down like a ton of bricks, given that Mars is retrograde and it's a lunar eclipse tonight. Besides, do you really want to spoil this evening's celebrations because you've had a flaming row? If possible, live and let live, so you can have a really happy New Year!
