Dr. Gennie Ruth Cheatham wins Beethoven Competition

Dr. Gennie Ruth Cheatham won a Southern Regional Beethoven competition. She played Beethoven's Ninth Sonato and brought tears to the eyes of the audience. The performance was magnificent. Gennie Ruth is an Educator/Musician. She plays over 20 instruments and is a prolific writer. Currently, she is a College professor and serves as Executive Director of The Cheatham Education Foundation, Inc.
Dr. Cheatham is considered a musical genius and child prodigy. Gennie began singing at age three or four and has been formally trained on piano, several string instruments and theory. She started her studies in music theory when she was in the seventh grade at S.A Owens, Jr., with Dr. Mildred Green. Owen College is now LeMoyne-Owen College. Dr. Cheatham later briefly taught at LeMoyne-Owen as a music instructor.
The 2008 Cheatham School of Music Recital will be held in December at the Beethoven Club, in Memphis, TN.
