In Arkansas? Holy cow, those turbines are pretty darn loud then... I'd hate to live over there and have to deal with that noise... I live just east of Atoka, and we hear this rumbling sound several times a day. It's even audible to me, and I'm half-deaf, always got the TV cranked so I can hear it... I hear this rumble while watching movies, lol... Wonder how long this is gonna keep up? I mean, it's no big deal, not losing sleep over it or anything like that, just curious... Anyone know any more facts about this?

Matt,

Tina is correct. Please see the article in this link regarding the noise. I think they said it will last another couple of weeks. I don't know why they have to work all night, though.

Oh my i would hate to be the people living close to that plant. I thought i was going crazy for a bit and was so happy to run across this article today. We have jets fly very low over our house here in Munford so i wasn't surprised until i would hear it just stop all the sudden. At first i thought a plane was in trouble in the air but would go outside to find nothing. I can't imagine how how loud that would have to be for us to hear it all the way over here.

Are you Kidding me?? Do they really expect us to believe that somewhere in Arkansas they are testing wind turbines.... What a joke, if that were the case can you imagine how loud that is in Arkansas. Come on!!! Does anyone seriously know what is going on?? That sounds completely ridiculous to me... They must think we are complete half wits... Can someone please explain a little more thoroughly if this is a logical conclusion to this..

Thats actually what it is. No conspiracy theory this time. They got a video on youtube showing the blow and its the noise we been hearing. I think it something in the "lay of the land" as to why the sound is carrying so far.

Well if they are testing wind turbines, they must have moved it to California since we are hearing the same sound.

Hearing it here in Southwestern Ontario Canada as well. Sounds like a low frequency rumble, almost like a distant freight train. I actually thought thats what it was until I started hearing others complaining about the same noise from the other side if the county. An article was posted in our local newspaper.

My wife and I heard the rumbling noise here in central Texas near the end of march. It lasted so long (about 3 minutes) that it was pretty scary.

I have been hearing the rumbling sound also. It has been happening daily for months. It occurs between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. The past two days it occurred at 4:00 p.m.( FEB. 27 and 28). There are no storms in area and in fact, very clear skies. My daughter heard it also two days ago and asked if it was thunder. It sounds like a localized rumble, not rolling like thunder. It does rumble the house and only lasts a few seconds. It does catch your attention. Anyone else hearing this?? When I research the Internet for similar stories, there are some unexplained occurrences in the south. Any scientists reading this and know what is going on or want to, I am recording the times and days of occurrences.

I hear & feel the sound daily as well, except perhaps on the weekend. It happened at 3PM daily before the time change, now at 4PM DST. Perhaps it is the quarry on Forbes Rd at Old Frankfort Pike, but not sure. Will try to remember to call the city on Monday

Also can confirm the rumbling noise in Lexington, KY.

My 3 year old comes running upstairs from the basement (where it sounds louder) usually crying because he thinks its thunder.

The noise occurs daily and usually between 2-4pm. I assumed it was either blasting from construction or tremors.

I'd love to have a definite answer.

I am hearing and feeling this as well. The past week or so it has happened several times. My cats get wide-eyed and then it stops in 5 -6 seconds.

Another resident of Lexington, KY here. My family and I have heard and also felt this strange rumbling. We're in the tates creek area, and it shakes the whole house. You'd think if there was blasting happening in the area, they'd have some signs posted or something. My mother suggested it might be a jackhammer, but it only happens once in any given day, which seems odd.
