Nine Charged With Abuse Following Death At Group Home

Nine former employees of a Carter County group home for mentally handicapped adults have been charged in an ongoing police investigation of residents being abused at the facility, reportgs the Daily ... via WKYT-TV Lexington

These people need to be put away for all this abuse they have done
Their names were given on the Lexington Channel news tonight.
They are as follows
Robert Thompson
Regina Stevens
Nicholas Adams
Earl Belfrey
Glada Miller
Michael Yates
Todd Gribbins
Carl King
Ira Griffith.

How many more children will be abused before this Community Presence is closed. I don't believe that any person operating a place like this would be in the dark about all this abuse..

I hope all of you people out there will pray for these handicapped people that they will remain safe. Also that all the parents of these children will wake up and get their heads out of the sand and get their children out of there.

this is "alleged" abuse, why does everybody always assume the worse? Does anybody ever get the benefit of the doubt? The situation is not one of actual abuse as every one assumes, but more to the point of doing what your taught to do to control out of control adults with behavior problems.

Most of these "poor handicapped" people are placed at this agency because they are considered high risk individuals because of their severe behaviors and their families can no longer physically handle them.

I may not agree with all of the practices done in these agencies but i say shame on all of the people who have not an inkling of an idea of what they are talking about and then are the first ones to say "put them away for all the abuse they have done"!

I can say from experience that most of the above mentioned people that are now labeled abusers are anything but that!! I know that most of these very same people have went far beyond what was expected of them to make sure that the people that they served where happy, well loved, and had as normal lives as possible.

It really gets to me when people are always beliving the worst out of every situation, don't always believe what you hear or read. Makes me think of a saying I once heard, "No good deed goes unpunished" This is so true in the situation.

actually its a group of different homes for adults, not elderly, with mental retardation and developmental disabilities.

It doesn't make any difference if they are adults or children they are being abused, With their mental handicapped state they are the same as children.

These comments amaze me because as always none of us have all of the facts. We need to be patient and let the legal system work. The people guilty or INNOCENT are real people with families, children and lives that DO NOT NEED TO BE TARNISHED by unproven gossip.
If they are wrong then let the system prove them wrong and until then just sit back and listen and stop the gossip of nothing but, hear say that gets repeated and grows with every tale

When a young man gets killed it is not gossip. His family probably is hurting more than the other being talked about. From what I have read about this family the mother had cancer is why she placed him in their care under the doctors advise. But I guess they don't count.

I know for a fact,That one man wasn't mean to anyone.He was so good to them that he would bake them cookie's and would stay many hrs. away from his family to help with them, so don't blame them all for what one person did.This man has a family and is innocent, But his name is been tarnished by unproven gossip.

Do you think the police just made this up on these people I don't think so. They have some proof or they wouldn't have arrested them.

Actually, alot of the things you people have wrote is right and wrong. I worked there a while before the death of mike price and I loved him like I would someone in my family. Those people that are accused of such bad things in the list above I know or have met all of them. And they are everything but that. And also to answer some of your ?'s it is a group of homes stretching from morhead to ashland. And there are girl homes and boy homes , some are children and some are adults. They all have a disablity thats why i wanted to work there to help. I'm not denying that some of us could have used better training but i never seen anything out of the way towards one of the individuals ever. It kills me to hear you people that have never worked or been around this company to judge on what you have heard. I really hope none of you are Christians or you no longer are for the judging you have done. Why dont you stop and visit one of these homes. Talk to the comany go in for training if you think you can do better. They do need help and i say bless the people who have the guts to act instead of talk.

This is a very wrong thing to say Angel you do not know more than I. I do not know della yet.. but This statement is very wrong. Some of them are actually living on their own. Making progress so I say until you can come up with something solid you should ... Well just lay off some things.

Angel, i was there, in to court room yesterday and i didn't see you, i knew all the LADY'S in the room.I didn't see You,or was you one of the women that had to go before the judge, and again you don't know what and who these people is that you are talking about.Like you said i read or i heard( you need help). Get the real fact before you become GOD and do the judging of these people.You care so much why don't you go help out with these mental handicapped children that you are so worred about.I am sure they can use your help.But i guess you don't have time for that either

The case I am interested in was not yesterday or I would have been there.

I seen today in the Lexington Newspaper that there was another case of Abuse in Ky. This one was at Winchester,
I wonder if the moon changed It makes people go crazy when the moon is ful. When will all the abuse end.

Maybe all the people were not guilty, but the police & the court will find the truth. I feel sorry for their families they are the ones who this will hurt, Dont these people know that this abuse will hurt their chances of ever getting a job in this field again.

Don't blame Angel for what these people done.

Were these 9 people cleared of the charges when they went to court this week.

Thankful,I know for a fact that Angel doesn't know all the facts about all of these people. I am not trying to scare her off.I am just saying what i know is true and yes all the talk is hurting these peoples family and little children.If they are that bad way do they get to keep their children.

I agree with 'Tired of keeping silent.' Maybe the people that works there wasn't trained right for the situation. The boy that died apparently was throwing a fit or having a seizure(I've heard 2 different stories)but the worker was trying to hold him down so he wouldn't hurt himself or somebody.What if he let him go,he may have hurt someone else & may still have died..(my condolences to the family)Thats a terrible way to lose someone but think about what you are doing to other peoples lives that maybe is innocent..
