If the Burlington Police Department has such an inflated ego that they will not take action to clear this young mans record, then I think the next step is to sue the Police Chief for defamation of character. I have no time for criminals, and less time for high handed law enforcement.

How kids are escorted off campus? The SRO are police officers, do they have to sneak kids off campus that have committed a criminal offense. It is unfortunate that this student was wrongly charged but please allow Law Enforcement to do there job. We don't tell your boss how to walk down the hall. So why should we tell Law Enforcement how to escort students off campus

there is no high handed LEO, just people commenting that will not allow the proper time or steps to clear the issue, the police have a most unusual job of dealing with trash, so occasionally there will be mistakes or disappointments but the truth always comes thru so give it time without all the finger pointing

The Burlington Police sux, and I know this firsthand. I live in Burlington the first 17 years of my life and saw first hand how young people were treated by the police.Fifteen years later I moved back and opened a business. They constantly stopped my guys and me at night, while we all driving company vans, that were clearly marked with advertising. It was no secret what we were doing working at night. This Wendy Jordan tried to accuse me of vandalism and other things, luckily I had plenty of money and could afford an attorney or I might be in jail todasy. She is crooked as the day is long. She doesn't know how to investigate a crime, and will file false charges against anyone, anytime. She justs wants to clear her caseload, she doesn't care who she hurts in the process.

The young man shouldn't have to "work" to clear his record. If he's innocent, then it should be a done deal. That's all there is to it.

Amazing how this resembles ID theft. You are violated, you know you have done nothing wrong and yet you are the one who has to bear the burden and expense of clearing your name.

KnowItAll - You have no clue what you are talking about. The police had plenty of time to investigate this issue. The original crime happened a while ago. They instead chose to arrest this young man with very flimsy information (obviously), and then embarrass him by handcuffing him in front of his peers.(He asked to go out the back).

The arresting officer would not tell him what he was being charged with or read him his rights, instead asked him where he got the $30 in his pocket, and how he can afford to drive a nice car.

How is that NOT high-handed? It doesn't even apply to the case. Does every one that is arrested get asked those questions?

Additionally, after this was all said and done, the police said they acted within the law, but issued no apology formal or informal apology to the Bowden's for this gross mistake...again, how is that NOT high-handed? Apparently these LEO think they can do as they please, without repercussions. I was raised to apologize when I did something wrong...it's the least one can do when a mistake is made.

I don't think the NAACP has anything to do with this, YOYO. This young man was done wrong by the high and mighty Burlington Police Department, and for the record I am a 48 year old white man. I don't like the police mistreating anyone, especially innocent citizens. Most police are crooked everywhere. Look at all the innocent people in jail, that have been released because of DNA evidence that was finally able to be tested. While I am at it there are a lot of crooked prosecuters out there also. But, thank the good Lord, most have enough sense not to try a case with flimsy circumstancial evidence.

Are you serious??? It is unfortunate that the SRO handcuffed this young man and prevented him from calling his mother ..The SRO has to follow the same guidelines as a police officer when on a school campus...I tell you what ..as one parent to another...we are talking about an INNOCENT young man...so put yourself in his mothers shoes...thats what i thought

as i said if time does not clear the issue, then contact a well primed attorney, he will straighten all out and find a penny or too for thought, the various commenters have unusual remarks as they think that to arrest a bank robber suspect needs to be met with kindness, if.. yes if the kid was the real robber then he could have pulled out his gun and started shooting the other snotty nosed brats in his class and the officer too. Then whiney ass no good parents would scream, why did'nt the office cuff him as proper procedure demands, all officers are trained to do it a correct way as to not allow a very bad day to happen, because stupid people do not know what a day in the life of a LEO is like, each day could be your last so do it by the book or be a statistic.

Well..... everything is about how the police are bad, corrupt and out to get people. First off from the information that the police had he was guilty. So, does that mean when the police go to arrest someone they should buy them dinner and worry about weather or no thay make the person mad? Well, you are only being charged with DWI, hit and run, and injuring someone, but that is okay. Can I get you a coffee or something? Would you like to ride in the front of the car or should I call a lemo for you. Okay maybe I am looking at this wrong. Someone breaks into your house, damages your property or injuries a family member and you are worried about how they feel? Second off BPD tried to say they were sorry, but the NAACOP and the kid did not like it and refused to take it. To bad to sad. Someone tries to give you $50.00 but you want $100.00 are you going to leave the $50.00. Its all about the money and the lime light now. That is why the NAACP is involved. Everyone is quick to judge without the facts or the hole story. How about we disband the police departments and live without for a few months? Thats right complain about the police, but call them and ask for help when YOU need it. Then of course complain when they don't arrest quick enough or tell you we don't have enough evidence. Oh well sue them either way right?

Daily Horoscope for December 10

Capricorn

Someone is in a finger-wagging mood and unfortunately they seem to be concentrating on you! Maybe they think you've fallen from grace for some reason, or perhaps you're simply the only person who happens to be around when they feel like letting off steam. Do your best not to fall into an equally critical and disgruntled mood, because it will soon make you feel wretched.
