Blaze re-enforces town's message: Railroad must fix hydrants
#1 Jun 17, 2013
The broken fire hydrants have been like this for 40 years nothing new here it's just Billerica dragging its feet, now if it were a historic house getting torn down or a 40B development going in then no problems all paper work would be filled out and it would be a done deal!

These hydrants were installed by the railroad company years ago. They were private fire hydrants, not ones put in by the town. I am not saying that they should not have been maintained, but it is wholly different than, say, the fire hydrant on Lupine that was broken, which was a town hydrant. Blame the railroad company, not the town on this one.
