"David S. Hopper, 45, is a convicted serial rapist serving 46 years in federal prison in Kentucky. He was brought to Columbus to face charges in a 2003 attack in a Grove City health-food store."

It is not entirely clear to me what is accomplished by spending money to try a man who will spend the rest of his life in prison on the federal charges alone.

46 years is not the rest of this man's life if he lives past 91. His victim's deserve to receive full justice... not partial.

It's too bad these two criminals/sicko's couldn't have met the same fate as the serial rapist who was killed last night. That would have saved a lot of money.

an interesting point, but it should be clear whether he is guilty of all accused crimes . . . additionally, i agree with Kerry that we have a moral obligation to the victims of his crimes

We have seen many times where someone makes a mistake during a trial and the case is thrown out many years down the road. Being found guilty in another case makes sure that the guilty one stays where he belongs.

How did the judge set bond for this crime if he is currently serving 46 years in a federal prison for another crime? Doesn't that make him ineligible for bond?

The Judge has to set bond on the crimes the defendent is charged with even though He would be ineligable for release on bail.

Additionally, brain has the best point. I mean...absolutely, the victims need justice here. But it would do a greater injustice by not having a trial and for the criminal to be released on good behavior, or released on appeals blah blah blah. The longer we can keep him in there for multiple reasons the better.

Besides, the article does not state that he is ineligible for parole in his original crimes... that 46 years in prison can be whittled down to nothing if he behaves.... let's not give him that chance... he didn't give his victim's a chance

Did he eat the legs? They certainly couldn't have gone down a toilet. It seems this Robert A Knight is a real life Hannibal Lechter, except that he's not too intelligent. Geez....

The horrific murder of Tracey Moore is tragic. A victim of repeated previous assaults by the same man that took her life and should be a warning to others in a similar relationship. Abusers tend to continue to escalate the severity of the violence and only halt the behavior with forced detainment.

I agree! When will we be protected from these beasts? If he'd have been locked up(or better yet castrated)there wouldn't have been additional victims.

And just think -the responding officer to a potential crime committed by this guy, could've been the one from Grove City doing his indecent acts in an area Kohls!

That is a little harsh towards the family-we cannot chose our family members, so to take it out on them is not really fair.

I say close down a section of I-70, let these two idiot go free, give them a car and make them share the ride, let them drive down I-70. Then the victims, and the victims families get to hunt them down and shoot them both. Why should the cops have all the fun?

I say just waste them both so we don't waste our tax money on them while they are in carcerated. They apparently have no value on a human life...
