On Wednesday Obama Took the First Major Step in a Plan to Ban All Firearms in the United States . The Obama administration intends to force gun control and a complete ban on all weapons for US citizens through the signing of international treaties with foreign nations. By signing international treaties on gun control, the Obama administration can use the US State Department to bypass the normal legislative process in Congress. Once the US Government signs these international treaties, all US citizens will be subject to those gun laws created by foreign governments. These are laws that have been developed and promoted by organizations such as the United Nations and individuals such as George Soros and Michael Bloomberg. The laws are designed and intended to lead to the complete ban and confiscation of all firearms. It will never happen! The Obama administration is attempting to use tactics and methods of gun control that will inflict major damage to our 2nd Amendment before US citizens even understand what has happened. Obama can appear before the public and tell them that he does not intend to pursue any legislation (in the United States) that will lead to new gun control laws, while cloaked in secrecy, his Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton is committing the US to international treaties and foreign gun control laws. Does that mean Obama is telling the truth? What it means is that there will be no publicized gun control debates in the media or votes in Congress. We will wake up one morning and find that the United States has signed a treaty that prohibits firearm and ammunition manufacturers from selling to the public. We will wake up another morning and find that the US has signed a treaty that prohibits any transfer of firearm ownership. And then, we will wake up yet another morning and find that the US has signed a treaty that requires US citizens to deliver any firearm they own to the local government collection and destruction center or face imprisonment. This is not a joke nor a false warning. As sure as government health care will be forced on us by the Obama administration through whatever means necessary, so will gun control...Edited for length
I see the chain email above is again making its way around the internet. It was B S when it first made the rounds here in 2009 and its still B S. I've thoughtfully attached the FactCheck test and link proof below, confirming its B S. Relax, dude. Our President isn't trying to take any of our guns away. FactCheck states:

"A chain email that we debunked back in 2009 is making the rounds again. But nothing has changed in more than two years that would make the message any more true.

Its author claims that President Barack Obama “intends to force gun control and a complete ban on all weapons for US citizens through the signing of international treaties with foreign nations.” That’s a reference to a potential United Nations treaty to regulate the global trade of conventional weapons.

“On Wednesday Obama Took the First Major Step in a Plan to Ban All Firearms in the United States,” the author of the chain email writes referring to the Obama administration’s announcement in October 2009 that it would support a process that could lead to a treaty..."

Please forward this message to others who may be concerned about the direction in which our country is headed. Straight into socialism if Obama has his way... We are being led like a lamb to the slaughter (Socialism/Dictatorship).
The only business Obama has been good for is gun sales and ammo. Surely Obama realizes that American's won't give up our guns and it will indeed cause a civil war if they try to take them. Without guns we are no better off than Syria citizens, and it isn't going so good for them!

Not lies, just business. Look it up...Obama has been great for sales, even you can't deny that. But now look at other business', say coal for instance....how's that going? And let' face the real truth, how well does he seem to do at investments, like the green industry for instance?

I would ask that you do the same. When you do you will see that what happened the day after the election is that the US backed the UNs request to continue the debate. They did not support the treaty, only the request to continue debating the treaty - Huge difference.
The US was one of the few countries that refused to back the treaty the way it was presented.
This administration was very clear to the UN that they will not support any treaty that infringes upon our rights to bear arms.

Did you read the story you just linked to? true you have to go down a few paragraphs past the right wing BS, and straight up lies, fore you get to the truth - But here's a quote from your link:

"The month-long talks at U.N. headquarters broke off after the United States - along with Russia and other major arms producers - said it had problems with the draft treaty and asked for more time.

But the U.N. General Assembly's disarmament committee moved quickly after Obama's win to approve a resolution calling for a new round of talks March 18-28. It passed with 157 votes in favor, none against and 18 abstentions"

It is very clear that the US only agreed to continue talks - what's so wrong with that, especially when they have already vocalized what their opposition to the first draft was, which was the threat to our constitution.

It was also interesting that in your link it was stated that the vote was supposed to be a few days before the election, but the storm delayed that - the timing had nothing to do with the election.

I consider myself a pro-active, enlightened, gun
preparer. There are 10's of millions of us, but hey we'll be sure to make sure your good and fukd if the sh!t goes down. If it doesn't we'll still be ok too. No body expected Katrina or Sandy to happen but the people that had things prepared looked pretty smart now. Those that didnt are either lucky or dead. Guess you prefer lucky or dead.

I can't believe someone who thinks they are intelligent enough to carry a weapon would be ignorant of the fact that these kind of accidental shootings are extremely common. Here's just a few of the cases:

I try to not make a habit of replying to gray box posters, who either lack the smarts to set up a Registered Topix Account or who lack the nads to post Registered, but I'll make an exception here, cupcake.

You assume I'm anti-gun. You also assume I'm not as "prepared" as you are, pookie. I love guns, not laws that let an apparent knuckle-dragging, whiny mouth-breather like you own multiple semi-auto guns.

You "I'm bad! No I swear I'm bad" wimps make me laugh. Be prepared, and if and when it gets intense and you can't protect yourself, don't expect me and mine to protect you and yours. Good luck with that!

Good luck too with the lame "we'll be sure to make sure your good and fukd" threat, puddin. You assume much and have no idea who you're threatening. If you must, come and get me, sweetie! You'd regret it!

You sure seem to be a pathetic, sad little man, hiding behind a gray box. With your attitude, I'll bet you're a real success out here in the R W! Angry, bully-wannabe posters entertain me, but I pity you!

Do they still do this, I would think they would at least carry a taser this day and age.
Taser yes and pepper spray.
Only airport police and special tactical squads carry guns.
I would suggest that the UK suffers more residential burglary than the US due to the right to protect ones homes etc with firearms that exists in the US.
Being allowed to keep guns at home and use them on the toerags who attempt to break in would be an option I would certainly vote for in the UK

Because you can't conceal a car in your waistband. I read a news item from Florida (Sorry, can't find the link) where two gung-ho gun enthusiasts were both packing legal concealed handguns. They got into some trivial, petty argument and murdered each other. I just had to laugh.
The easy availability of handguns lead to impulsive acts. This is a factor in many handgun suicides. A break-up or loss of job will cause a temporary irrationality combined with a nearby handgun in the nightstand leads to tragedy. With no gun, no easy way out, a potential suicide victim will endure the stressor and live through it. I read that in the Journal Of the American Medical Association.
You said people fear guns and rightly so. They were designed to kill things. Cars were designed for travel. The manufacturers of arms are always coming up with more sick, sadistic and twisted ways of killing like Black Talon bullets designed for maximal tissue damage for example. Why are gun owners so scared and paranoid of home invasion is what I'd like to know?
Sharp, pointed items were the first weapons used to kill things, but nobody wants to ban them! And I would almost guarantee that if guns were banned, the sharp, pointed items would again become the weapon of choice.

Unless the blade opens automatically. Nor does the UK suffer more burglary than the U.S.; England and Wales have higher rates, Scotland has a lower rate.
