Mom's quote: "I never charged them when Jeremiah and his friend Tom went to the Quad Cities to Daisy Dukes strip club, when Bridget went to karaoke with her girlfriends or when either went to the movies with their friends," Shellis Alter wrote.
Sounds like a class family. Any relation to the Iowans who were up here having sex in the men's room during the Gopher game?

Wow this is messed up. I spent a lot of time with my grandparents (I never had a babysitter outside of them) and they watched me because they loved me and my parents. I plan to spoil my grandkids some day and will be blessed if I get to spend a lot of time with them. ***Note to me kids....I can wait a few more years to have grandkids though.***

No, Your talking about a woman who has taken advantage of many people her entire life and lives off them. I know first hand. If all she felt was taken advantage of she could have stopped this long ago. She waited over two years to do something. Simply put you don't charge.

I had to go read this on another site since it's now gone from the PP. Groovy did you actually read an account of this? It's heartbreaking. The little boy has a heart condition and he needs to stay away from sick people so daycare options are limited.

It was only on weekends and the mother thought that the grandmother enjoyed being with the little boy and would give the grandmother a little money here and there for feeding the kid. Suddenly the grandmother up and tells her that she wants $25 from every paycheck of the mother's.

The parents are going through bankruptcy due to the increasing medical bills for their little boy. This grandmother has to have a heart of stone to be demanding money from them under such circumstances. If she really didn't want to take care of the little boy she should have said so from the start. To kick these parents when they're down through no fault of their own indicates a total lack of compassion.

No kidding, WTH is this world coming to? I take care of my grandchild while my daughter is in med school, and I only wish I could take care of her more, I even keep her on the weekends and would never dream of charging her!

No Sarah - I didn't see that other side of the story - just what the PP printed and I think it was just the Grandmother's account of the situation.

Thanks for enlightening me and not being mean about it ;)

*some people on here can be so darn mean*

Those parents took complete advantage of the grandmother! Title 19 paid 100% of the grandson's medical bills although the parents claimed differently in the article.(Check the bankruptcy papers. I did.) I watched the grandmother daily picking up and returning him while the parents were home or leaving with friends. These are the MOST IRRESPONSIBLE parents I have ever seen and the grandson was lucky to have and happy with his Grandma! I'm glad they moved but I pray for that poor boy with that type of parents.
