I also have been taken by these thieves. They are outright crooks who lie and rip you off any way they can. They have been sued numerous times (check the conn judicial search). They list themselves as members of the Assoc of interior Designers, but when I checked they are not members in good standing. They know their way around the judicial system and will string you along as long as they can. The best advice to anybody is to stay away. These guys should be in jail.

I am not sure what the law is, but you should have so many hours to change your mind when you sign a contract. Because of the weekend, you may just be able to get your money back if you ask for it today.

Even if its leaving him a voice recorded message notifying him of not wanting work done, and have a witness there when you do it.

Good Luck to you, I wish you well.

Consumers should check BBB under present and all previous names. Also check small claims court case listings for all the numerous lawsuits. Check Dept of Consumer Affairs for license. We found all unsatisfactory information about them. This was done after the fact unfortunately. We found that DCA was of little help and only concerned as to whether Repko/Conway were advertising as interior designers without a license. They play a shell game by continuously changing business name and address. They over price items and service; stiff sub-contractor and get kick backs from sub-contractor; lie to sub-contractor about clients paying while they live off the initial down payment. The list of unsavory behavior goes on and on.

Note to all:
Persons holding themselves out as Interior Designers and/or Architects practicing in Connecticut are required to be licensed by the State of Connecticut, which is regulated by the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection. To inquire about someones license status or make a formal complaint, visit the CDC website:

Similar problem with Repko/Conway - I'M ABOUT TO DO A SMALL CLAIMS WRIT AND NOTICE AGAINST RICHARD A. REPKO. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND OUT OTHER BUSINESSES THAT HE IS ON AS HE CHANGES COMPANY NAMES FREQUENTLY.
HAS ANYONE HAD SUCCESS THROUGH THE SMALL CLAIMS OPTION RE MR. REPKO?

My comments are mentioned in item #10.
I am in West Hartford. The Attorney General's Office has been helpful to me. There's a balance due of $1150.00. I want to know if I can expect success from Small Claims Court given the fact that Repko offered, on his own, to set up a schedule of payments but he hasn't followed through, that was 3 months ago.

Your response will be appreciated.

Ripped Off in Westport

Rick Repko ripped us off about four years ago in Westport. He was extremely overpriced and never produced one receipt. He never delivered two tables to us and one table he damaged himself in delivery but never fixed.

My bills were also under Jacobs and I recall him saying the shop they rented in Westport was a combination of his and his partners mother's names. I'm in the process of moving but will find my old receipts for more info.

If anyone finds him let me know please. I doubt he has any money any way. He seemed to be all talk and inflated truths.

I recently worksed with Rick Repko and was very satisfied with the interior job he did for me and my husband. The room came together beautifully. He executed my wishes and the job was done super quick. I would deffinetly work with him again and as a matter of fact I am going to have him do my master bedroom this spring of 2011.

Rick and his partner are charlatans of the first degree. We did eventually get our furniture - but not all of it and most of what was delivered was cheap quality. We've never been taken before so I guess we were due for one of those nasty life lessons. Beware.

Rick Repko is preposterously disillusioned.
He and his company are over-priced and need lessons in manners.
He told my husband and I lie after lie about our furniture.
I am NOT recommending him to anyone. Word of mouth is the best form of a warning against these scam artists.

Being a smaller company, you'd think there would be more tact.

In all my years of working for my present company, I have NEVER had to yell over a client. Not only is this guy a scumbag scammer, he is also a slimy braggart who thinks that he can get out of paying his own bills by threatening me with people he (allegedly) knows and that he will "ruin" my company. Seriously, dude?? You need to hit your knees and ask forgiveness for all the trouble you've caused the above people. Then turn your life around by getting some INTEGRITY - look it up if you are unfamiliar with that word - as I suspect you are.

Sorry to hear you all had some kind of issue. Home designers are very expensive. I been in Repkos house around about 14 years ago as I was his sons girlfriend. I was just telling my husband where I got my decorating ideas from. I told him about Mr. Repkos home and how beautiful it was. never in my life have a I seen a home more wonderful than his home. I was a very poor kid back then and his father and boyfriend were the most nicest people to me even tho I kinda felt like I didn't belong there. I just could never imagine that they would try to rip someone off. as they were so nice and giving to someone like myself. I have never been able to afford to have someone come in and do my home up myself. But if I could I would call Mr. Repko ad ask him before anyone else. Despite that some of you might feel unsatisfied. It's hard being an artist. I can paint peoples portraits and I'm very good in art work myself but I always worry about others asking me to do work for them. As I can't see in their mind what they truely want me to do. So I worry they might not be as happy with the same work I have done. It's a difficult job to begin with. Truely sorry for those who have felt cheated, but after seeing what this man can do to a home I'd still higher him in a heartbeat! I feel he is worth it to me.

Please don't let Rick Repko in your home. My wife and I would be happy to share how we got scammed by Rick Repko. We will figure a way to connect.....
