You do not need stop signs posted on roadways for the sake of speed control. That is not their purpose. Let the troopers setup their traffic posts. Most of the offenders are your neighbors and yourselves.

I can't wait to see the New Hartford first selectman get his ticket for going 1 mile over the posted speed limit.

South Road residents need to realize that they are not loctaed on a quiet country road. When drivers are forced to stop at three unnecessary stop signs, they make up for it by speeding.

A selectman lives on South Road? Now I know why they get all the stop signs and extra police protection. What about residents of Niles, West Hill and 219??? G

It was indeed a slow recovery for my grandson who was involved in this accident on South Road in New Hartford. Fortunately the car hit the skateboard he was carrying which was broken in half and received the FULL impact of the speeding vehicle. Doctors at the hospital said that the skateboard saved his life as he would have had multiple injuries otherwise and would no longer be with us today. As it was, he suffered swollen hands, loose teeth and a broken leg. For 3 months he was unable to carry on the activities of daily living like eating, writing, walking, etc. without adult supervision and assistance both at home and in school.
YES more must be done to prevent SPEEDING in this area and to hold those persons accountable for their
irresponsibility.
