Does anyone have any info on the murder of Kathy Stembridge back in 1980? I believe it was in Granbury, maybe in a laundromat or convenience store? She was 21 years old.

I have lived in Hood County basically all of my life. I am a few years younger than Holly and as an adult I have worked in the criminal justice system for 18 years and have known several of the police officers that were employed with GPD at the time of the incident. The "main suspect" was this Hispanic male, Holly's boyfriend or husband/ex-husband at the time this occurred (unsure of the true nature of the relationship between suspect and victim) who owns La Fiesta restaurant in Granbury. The restaurant is located on Morgan St. next to where the Pastafina restaurant is. Pizza Hut was built and opened in 1986 because I was one of the first round of staff hired there. Pastafina was not built until after both La Fiesta and Pizza Hut. There were rumors back then that this person associated with La Fiesta he was involved in drugs, etc. as others have mentioned in previous posts.

I am currently trying to do research on other unsolved murders in Hood County. I believe citizens of Hood County need to petition the police chief, Mitch Galvan, to contact the producers of the new television show "Cold Justice" to ask for their assistance in solving Holly's murder and maybe some other murders in Granbury. This show's season premiere was 9/3/13 on TNT network. Law enforcement officials wanting help solving unsolved murders are encouraged to contact the show's producers by visiting:
tntdrama.com/coldjustice

One of the main characters on the show is a prosecutor from Texas, Kelly Sigler, who has tried 68 murder trial during her 21 year tenure and she has NEVER lost! Yolanda McClary is a former crime scene investigator with Las Vegas PD and has investigated over 7,000 crime scenes.

Another unsolved murder in Granbury which occurred around the same time as Holly's is DeeDee Murphy, who was only 18 or 19 years old at the time of her death.

Granbury needs help in bringing justice to family members of these tragedies.

Dolly, did you provide them with the list of items that I suggested a couple of years back: Has all "...DNA evidence has been submitted to the lab and ran through CODIS to determine if there are any matches." If this person has been previously convicted of a violent crime or have had their DNA collected before, there is a chance of a match within CODIS. I hope Mitch has ensured any available DNA collected in Holly's case has been properly submitted and ran against other DNA samples in CODIS.

Good on you for continuing your efforts to get this resolved. It's ridiculous. If it's true that Unsolved Mysteries had wanted to do a show on this we should have allowed them. Why didn't we?

we have been talking about that. And they are in process of looking for that evidence. I'm very frustrated at this point but keep going forward the best I can alone with it. I will never give up. I have things I'm working on to get it back in the public. On the unsolved mystery show we would have been syed for slander is what we were told. I'm praying the DNA will surface ! I have submitted this to the cold case tv show as well.

Galvan won't do anything about it anymore than any other Hood Co Law Enforcement. He won't even make sure that domestic violence cases are given to DA to look at.
All of Hood County SD & PD with exception of 1 need to be booted out.
Where is justice in this county or town.
I'm of mind to go BACK to OLD way of protecting my family and property.

Hi Dolly, I went to GHS with Holly. She was a sweet beautiful girl. I couldn't believe it when I heard of her murder. Back then I also heard there was suspicion of her boyfriend, and talk that he was the ownder of La Fiesta restaurant; or something like that. Holly and I were friends at school but didnt really hang around after school and such. It has bothered me all these years that the perosn who did this terrible thing has not been cought. However I am not surprised considering Granbury's police department. I don't think it has improved through the years. I have myself thought about contacting the TV stations in regards to this case. I pray that this is brought back to the surface and reinvestigated.

The pastafina thing is wrong, however, they have the restaurant wrong, it was not pastafina but the restaurant next door to pastafina! I have been here since 1969 and pastafina was nowhere around. But the restaurant next door was. Just saying. And yes she broke it off with an individual whom is related to the owner of this restaurant, which I will add has another one in Cleburne. It was his brother which fled back to Mexico after the murder which therefore never was questioned. That's some of what I know.

Iended up in a private school but went thru part of school with herr and her sisters and it was La Fiesta resturant and Arturo Avalos I believe was his last name I knew him as well....and yes he was looked into but I dont believe it went as deep as it should of....yes the police department at the time was right there beside it as well as homes and all..it was a very sad day and I pray that whoever it was that took her from her family too soon is caught and has to pay for what they have done...Bonnie Barber was another cold case and someone finally confessed to that after 23 years she was working at the gas station by mcdonalds if you all remember that too DeeDee Murphy as well I do not believe they ever caught her killer and Kathy Stembridge there are so many things wrong with the Hood County Judicial system and Police departments that all we can do is pray that we get soe answers to them all

I was once told by a high profile lawyer from the dfw metroplex that hood county has the most corrupt and crooked judicial system in the united states and would not represent anyone in that county because it was a losing battle. there all one big happy family and they know who did it '

Too bad it's a jury that makes that decision and not the politicians. Your allegations do not hold water.
