There's an unfortunate monopoly on our groceries here in Burkeville. You all know what I'm talking about. You're damned if you buy groceries here in Burkeville and you are damned if you buy gasoline to shop elsewhere. You catch it at both ends.Does anyone have any useful suggestions?I know one family thats getting rich on all of us hearty eaters.Hell, even getting rich on skinny people.I'd like some "feedback"

I agree that the prices of groceries are high in Burkeville, however I think they're high everywhere. I will also agree that the one store has a monopoly in town, however I am thinkful that we have it. Hell, I go there everyday pretty much.Yes the choices are very limited in what you can buy there. But really,(if they ain't got it, you don't need it).Needs& wants are two totally different things. And as far as the family that's getting rich off of all of us, I would probalbly say that their not gettin rich.Getting by.But yeah, you're damned if you do and damned if you don't.I personally like the family that owns the only grocery store in town. I happen to think their good people. And if they are getting wealthy off of their grocery store, well, isn't that why their there. I like to think when folks start their own business that it's because their there to make money. I mean for real isn't that why of us go to work.?! MONEY I really am glad they're here.

Yes,I agree with you...I'm glad there here as well..at least we do have a grocery store. And yes, they are there to make a decent living.I'm like you are,as well,I like the family,I always have. There's just some things that have been done, that is probably not kosher and I don't know if I really should mention them.I wanted to see if anyone else had heard any negative feedback about there pricing through richfood. I guess that's why I was hoping for some feedback, maybe something a little different to discuss besides the old pervert discussion.Everyone is entitled to making a decent living. As hard as times are now,you better look out for yourself.

I am glad that we have the convience of a grocery store, BUT how can you buy a great value brand (that is obvoiously from wal-mart) for more than double the price? How is that fair? Other than having to buy what I absolutely need at that moment--it's cheaper for me to put gas in my car and drive to farmville. That to me is pathetic.

I agree that some of his prices are high. But for real ain't nobody twisting your arm to go there.Their meats can't be beat! If there is anyway that Earl can help his customers out, he does. I know if I didn't have any food for my family, and we were hungry.I could go to him and he would feed us, no question.Earl is a good man.He may be higher than some, but he's right here. We should be thankful that he stays afloat. He's here making a living, trying to support his family.I really don't feel like he's charging outrageous prices. Some stuff-a little high, and some stuff-normal.He also employees people and children from the community. And if you ask him to get something he does all he can do to get it.Except for he detergent!

His prices maybe a little higher than other stores . All things seem higher than they used to be . but just think of how many jobs burkeville market provides for are town ! No one seems to see just how lucky we are to have the store in burkeviile . crewe cant even say they have a grocery store ! with the prices of gas it realy wouldnt justify driving to farmville if you just need to pick up a few things now does it?

He has to go by the prices the cooperation tells him. You just have to shop around, his vegetables are cheaper than Walmart. But yes the prices are high. But we do go to Walmart and other stores, some places are just going to be high.

The girl cashier's there told me that Richfood tells him any time that he should drop his prices on their items, but he says the hell with it.Now,thats what his workers have told me.Hell,I don't know.I still buy there on small items.I'm all for making a living, making some money, but why burn somebody's butt?

Oh I did not know that, and well I guess when you are the only game in town you can charge what you want. However if they own the company name and he has the franchise sooner or later he has to abide by what they say. Richfood tradiitionally is higher than other chains.
