I saw a big black bear on dutch creek tonight. It was around 12 and it crossed the road in front of my car. It scared me to death. It is very big. If you live up there dont let your kids be out walking and playing by theirself. It was up there next to that road the goes off to the right almost at the end of Dutch Creek. I think the road is gravel. Has any one else ever seen bears in that area?

Yes we have wild boar, black bear and even a copperhead or two. check with fish and wildlife or even better yet take a long walk down around the lake area, or up some long hollow to the ridge top and discover for your self. But most animals will NOT be a threat unless they are defending their young,or very hungry. Enjoy the wildlife don't let it scare you to death. Beautiful country here.

there may be some wild bore here, but if they are they are few and far between .i am 47 and spent my whole life in lawson bottom ,very secluded in 1970 i never saw neither . i spent much time in the woods.hunting. if you visit this area you should watch for snakes rattlers and copperheads.you have much better chance getting bit than getting attacked by a bear, WE DO HAVE A VERY DANGEROUS ANIMAL HERE CALLED THE[ WAUMPUS CAT ] IT CAN STAND ON ITS BACK FEET AND EATS YANKEES, BUT ONLY THE ONES WHO THINK THEY KNOW EVERYTHING. HEY FRIEND ENJOY OUR COUNTY,DONT WORRY,A BLACK BEAR WILLNOT ATTACK YOU UNLESS YOU HAVE BLOODY MEAT IN YOUR POCKETS .THERE ARE BEAR HERE ,THEY HAVE AS MUCH RIGHT TO BE HERE AS WE DO.I CANT WAIT FOR THEM TO POPULATE THEY ARE VERY FUN TO WATCH IN THE WILD.HARMLESS BUT FOR GARBAGE CANS.

A friend of mine hear his dog barking like they do when they see something and he looked out he back door and there stood a big black bear in the back yard. He lives on Red Banks Road at Peytonsburg. This was about 2 years ago and I had heard other people say they had saw one and a cub on the Poplar Grove road on top of the Duley hill. Another lady told me about her turkey hunting and they were in a hut like and on top of the bluff and it went around growling and could smell them but couldnt find them. It went back down over the bluff growling the whole time, and they got out of ther as quick as they could before it came back. They wewe aorund 1880 around that way. I live about 600 yards form the river and they have been sighted down here before too, my neighbor saw the track. There are too many coyotes out there too.

My mom used to live on Dutch Creek when she was growing up, she swears she saw a bear when she went to the outhouse.

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Leo

Perhaps it's the fact that it's Christmas Eve and everyone is busy, but you can't help feeling that you're walking on eggshells around certain people. Their emotions are very close to the surface and could erupt at a moment's notice, perhaps in a storm of tears or a fit of pique. Calm them down and ask if you can do anything to help.
