Gingrich Slams President Obama for Apology Letter to Afghanistan
by Joy Lin | February 23, 2012

Spokane, Wash.-- Newt Gingrich sharply criticized President Obama for penning a letter to Afghan President Karzai expressing "deep regret" for a reported incident at Bagram Air Base where copies of the Koran were burned.

"The president apologized for the burning, but I haven't seen the president demand that the government of Afghanistan apologize for the killing of two young Americans," Gingrich said, referring to two soldiers serving in the U.S.-led coalition force who were killed by an Afghan wearing an army uniform during a third day of riots over the burning of Islamic scripture.

U.S. officials have said the books were burned by mistake and the case is under investigation, but the apologies and Karzai's call for calm have yet to quell the protests that have boiled over in Afghanistan. White House Press Secretary Jay Carney defended the president's letter, noting that Dana Perino apologized on behalf of President Bush in 2008 after a U.S. serviceman shot a Koran.

Gingrich said, "My hunch is, since the person who killed them is an Afghan soldier, that that soldier was being paid with American money, armed with American money, trained with American money, and there is something profoundly wrong when the commander in chief refuses to defend the integrity and the lives of the people who serve under him.

The Republican presidential candidate, who has accused the administration of "routinely and consistently" lying to the American people about the threat of Islamic radicalism, continued, "There seems to be nothing that radical Islamists can do to get Barack Obama's attention in a negative way and he is consistently apologizing to people who do not deserve the apology of the President of the United States, period."

"And candidly," Gingrich continued, "If Hamid Karzai, the President of Afghanistan, doesn't feel like apologizing then I think we should say goodbye and good luck, we don't need to be here risking our lives and wasting our money on somebody who doesn't care." The audience cheered

Gingrich said President Obama "surrendered twice today," first in the letter and secondly in an energy speech he delivered Thursday in Miami.

"The president went to Miami to explain rising gas prices. I was just reading the text -- I kid you not, this is one of those things that is truly worthy of Jay Leno and Letterman. The president of the United States explains first of all there's no single silver bullet. Now that's just wrong. Defeating Obama is a single thing that would change everything," the candidate said.

Gingrich vowed to bring America back to a "pre-Obama" world of energy policy, mocking President Obama for pointing to algae as an alternative source of fuel.

"For the president to stand there and explain to us that sometime in our children's lives, algae would rescue us -- I mean I rest my case," Gingrich said, couching his remarks first by saying he is "pro-science," supports research and has a friend who is working on long-term projects to convert algae into usable energy.

In a speech on gas prices at the University of Miami Thursday, President Obama defended his efforts to invest in energy alternatives

Yeah, I watched some of that speech and heard him say more than once, "here is what we need to do" or "here is what we are going to do" and then get back on his big gas guzzler, head to Orlando to spend the rest of the day with an NBA "legend" and on to Washington to his round office where he can practice his singing! He is about as inept in his singing as he is with running this country! They both stink!! We can put earplugs in our ears but we can't keep him out of our wallet!! Nothing will be done--just another taxpayer paid campaign trip!

I notice with each post about the President doing so badly there is never a comment from the
"expert"or politician on how the correct way to fix the problem of the moment. Are you fed so much negative commentary that you have lost the desire to get the truth or is accusing another of ill deeds more acceptable than reaching for a way to improve your life.Look for real ideas that have a chance of working and not all the negative political speeches from a person that has no idea of how to improve our lives.

You say you never hear anyone say how to fix the problem,Well that could be because you only listen to the liberal democrats'they dont have a clu on how to fix anything you are listining to the wrong people,Gingrege has made many smart comments on how to fix the economy but no one is listining in my opinion he is the sharpest tack in the box but he will not be nominated because the democrats are fighting him to hard. Many democrats will be voting republican in the primary they want a weak canidate that Obama can beat,Little do they know they will be beating themselfs if Obama really wins anothe term.
I guess they love the high tax'es the forced health care bill, they dont like God apparently because Obama will have all the churches closed within another term.they love the idea that he is doing away with our defense so we will be sitting ducks for our enemnys i'm a democrat but not to proud to admit it at this moment.i love my Country more then i love Obama

Voter,if I am only listening to the liberal side of the news let me take a topic that is talked about by both parties and you explain your view as discussed by your news source.TAXES.Both sides are for reducing them but fail to explain the end result.Less taxes cannot reduce our national debt which is a common talking point especially among Republicans.Cut services.Cut which one by how much and what will be the end result. If services that we have come to take for granted such as police and fire protection, road, education and a host of other things are not helped along by Federal support then are these services discontinued or will local taxes be raised to cover them. There are already many local governments in a bind and either can't or have a hard time paying bills so they can keep their head above water.
Give your explanation of how these and other issues should be handled and how your party's plan will solve these issues.

Not going by party, think it's time for us all to realize that neither party is going to save this country. Personally, I think it's time for us all to start to look at what the person is standing for, regardless of which party comes up with the idea. My candidate would be the one who finally decides that it's time for us to quit trying to rule and save the world and concentrate on this country and it's people. I'd vote for the person that wants to stop the imports from ANY country, unless it's something vital that we can't produce here. It's time to quit supporting the rest of the world financially, just say sorry, we're broke, we are going to take care of our own. Also, for the person that will cut all the bull from the entitled people, wealthy or poor, cut the programs that our taxes have to pay for, too many taking advantage of the system with free housing, free food, free medical care, free everything in life. They also need to stop all the control by the pharmaceutical companies in congress, over the Doctors, and get this country on the road to recovery. I'd also suggest that the prisons be exactly what they were intended to be, punishment, not some 5 star resort. Bring back the chain gangs, best way to deter crime is to make sure they know it's going to be a bad road they face.

That all makes sense to me! The only question is how are we gonna get the idiots in Washington now out? If Odumbo and his ilk all get re-elected I am afraid we are goners!!

To all terrorist'
Dear Terrorist please accept/my apology for making it so hard on you to kill us all.We know you have killed thousands of our citizens and our military boys & girls but we understand.
We know you hate us and you have burned thousands of our bibles and our flage but that's ok we dont expect an apology from you,
Next time you decide to kill a bunch of us just let us know in advance so i can get out of the way,Someone has to run this Country you know and thats my job. When you come to visit i will even bow for you just like i have done before.
i'm doing my best to break this Country just give me a little more time maybe 4 more years but i think i can get it all done in about 2 we have some really dumb people here they will vote for me no matter what most of them depends on the Government to tell them when they can go pottie as long as i can keep promising all this free stuff they will keep voting me in,I'm starting to get worried though our dollar is not worth much and i've borrowed so much from China i'mn afraid they will cut me of before i get all this accomplished.
I'm doing my best to take care of your buddies over here i make sure they have the very best of everything. Most of the Gitmo prisoners have already been released back into our society thanks to me i made sure they were tried in the American courts where the jury will do what i ask.
This week my buddie Eric Holder is getting ready to launch an investigation on the New York Police Dept- they have been watching your friends and that is un-acceptial to me ,They claim they are doing this to prevent another attack but i'm not sitting still for this.
also you might be interested in knowing i spent $700. grand on a socker field for the other detanies in gitmo we want them to have the very best.
So please accept my apology again for any in-conveniences we have caused just because those prisnors in yemen/or was it Pakastan i dont have my teleprompter handy but i'm sure you know what country it was,)) Just because the terroist killed a bunch of our Soldier's that in itself did not give them the right to burn the koran. The Soldier boys said they the terroist prisnors were passing information through the koran to each other that could cause some problems but you know how these young soldiers are hot headed and wanted revenge.
So again i'm begging your forgivness.

Call me anything call me a SOB or any bad name you can think of 'but please dont call me a liberal.
The President made a speach about his apology stating that he thought it helped in the mean time 2 more American Soldiers were murdered today,
He wanted to end the war in Irac why dont he want to end the one in Pakastan would it be because these same people who are rioting in the streets the same ones who are killing our Soldiers are the one's'NOW GET THIS READ IT SLOWLY"the ones that we as tax payers are paying these loones teaching them how to fight,Using American money funded by the Obama adminstration.
Real smart to send money to a terrorist nation to train them on how to come back and kill us.

I don't think that there is one thing in the whole country of Afganistan worth one of our soldiers being killed for! The place is a pile of dirt and rocks with Poppy fields as their nmain source of income! They have been fighting for thousands of years and will continue after we are gone because that is all they know how to do! They are not a civilized nation but a nation of fools!! Sometimes I think we are becoming such a nation in the US with the idiots that we elect to govern us but we can change that in November! VOTE SMART, TAKE OUT THE TRASH, ELECT AMERICANS WHO CARE ABOUT OUR ONCE GREAT COUNTRY AND BOW TO NO ONE!!

Are you making reference to the person that started this war or the one that failed to end it?Are you saying we should put most of our resources into a strong military and forget about social programs that help our own people?

Not at all..Let me put into a simpler form!! We need a strong military to keep countries ruled by idiots like North Korea, Pakistan, Iran, Russia, China etc. off of us. If they see a weakness they will strike! Do not give one nickle in foreign aide to ANY COUNTRY ever for ANYTHING as long as we are on the verge of bankruptcy (thanks Barak) and the budget (haven't had one in 3 years) is not balanced (thanks again Barak)!!! Social programs that have not been funded by the taxpayers, therefore due to them because it is their money, witheld from their paychecks, should be cut back until the funds are in the coffers!! Paying 40% interest on these borrowed funds is sheer lunacy and will be the death of America if not stopped!! And I blame all of them, past and present, all political parties, for this failure!! They were sent to Washington to do a job guided by our Constitution and our laws and all they do is line their pockets and the pockets of their contributors rather than take care of Americas business!! Throw the sorry bunch of bastards out and elect good people that have Americas best interest at heart!! WE NEED LEADERSHIP AND PATRIOTISM NOW!! KNOW WHO YOU ARE VOTING FOR IN NOVEMBER!! SEND THE DO-NOTHINGS AND THE KNOW-NOTHINGS BACK HOME TO GET A REAL JOB IF THERE ARE ANY!!

With those standards there is no person in the running for any position at this moment that meets your requirements.I notice that you are for an unfunded military but not social programs which would make many think that the military is more important than the general populace.Give us the source of information where we are paying 40% interest on our outstanding debt.

"Unfunded military" but not "social programs" I think you have those bassakwards as I did in not saying that 40% of our spending is borrowed, not in interest!!! If you don't have a strong mulitary the general populace is at risk in my estimation! This military could be better used to control our borders as nobody knows what is being brought into this country!!

That still appears to be 40% interest on our outstanding debt.China would gladly take a debt when the interest rate is that high.
