ANOTHER REPUBLICAN - ANOTHER LIE------Did Barack Obama break a promise to keep GM plant open?f the hometown of Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan has had an icon during his lifetime, it was a sprawling General Motors auto assembly plant.

For decades, the Janesville, Wis., plant gave thousands of people a comfortable living. In 1970, the year Ryan was born, it employed 7,000.

Ryan stirred memories of the factory on Aug. 16, 2012, attacking President Barack Obama during a campaign speech in Ohio.

"I remember President Obama visiting it when he was first running, saying he'll keep that plant open. One more broken promise," Ryan said.

He made the same point Aug. 29 during his speech to the Republican National Convention in Tampa:

"My home state voted for President Obama," he said. "When he talked about change, many people liked the sound of it, especially in Janesville, where we were about to lose a major factory.

"A lot of guys I went to high school with worked at that GM plant. Right there at that plant, candidate Obama said:'I believe that if our government is there to support you Ö this plant will be here for another hundred years.' Thatís what he said in 2008. Well, as it turned out, that plant didnít last another year. It is locked up and empty to this day. And thatís how it is in so many towns today, where the recovery that was promised is nowhere in sight."

Did Obama make such a promise as a candidate and break it after becoming president?
By December 2008, when President George W. Bush authorized nearly $14 billion in loans to General Motors and Chrysler, both of which were near financial collapse, GM had already warned it might close the Janesville plant because of sagging sport-utility vehicle sales. The plant was effectively shut down on Dec. 23, 2008, when GM ceased production of SUVs there and laid off 1,200 workers.(Several dozen workers stayed on another four months to finish an order of small- to medium-duty trucks for Isuzu Motors.)

So, the plant closed while Bush was still in office, about a month before Obama was inaugurated.
Actually, the plant closed before Obama even took office..........THE PLANT CLOSED UNDER BUSH......POLITIFACT.COM------ --We rate Ryan's statement False.

You and I know which half of the voters are below average intelligence now don't we. Here is a clue as to which half is below average for the republican readers, us democrats are NOT buying one bit of Romney and Ryan's bullshit!

Was Paul Ryan a statesman or a used car dealer? In his speech last night, he promised all the rosy things like a used car dealer without giving any hint of the quality of the used car he's selling! He boastfully lied about the healthcare bill, GM Auto plant shutdown, the deficit, foreign policy, taxation, bailout, budget cuts and so on. Like the used car dealer, he failed to give any specific or concrete plan to change the economy or any of his dreams. But like used car customers, most of the right wing Republicans were watching him, applauding him and shedding tears on his phony stories. Thank goodness, many of the conservative voters were either watching sports or other family dramas knowing well that this R-R team is unable to deliver anything and everything and it is a waste of time to keep an impossible dream of capturing the White House.

If he lied at every breath, which he didn't because you Dumbocrats took it all out of contex, he still wouldn't be able to tell as many lies as Barack Obama told in 2008 to get elected! Those lies have come back to bite him in the ass and will really be in the forefront up to election day! As a poster once asked, "How do you tell when Obama is lying--when his mouth is open" and it really fits his and the Dumbocrats agenda!

Sure, we know, you, Mitt Romney and all the republicans think they're so much better than anyone else. We get it! But you know what, in the end, everyone goes out the same, without a dime, all equal except in how they lived their lives. Think about it as you're belittling others.

what is worrisome is that fox news has so much influence over what people think around here. never mind its all lies, no real news political commentary designed to bring the base in line. and our fellow cumb cos.believe all the say, and if facts are spoken to them they yell your an idiot. im appalled by this, cumb cos are good honest people. but believe everyword dishonest republicans speak, it teeter tots on being clinically delusional. a good 70% of cumberland countians get some kind of public assistance and could not live without it and those same people support those politically who desire to take it away from them. why is that?
