I have read so many comments and news reports on the shooting in Connecticut. Most of them wants guns destroyed and got rid of and if you have a child something is wrong with to get it on medicine or off the streets. I am not the smartest person on the block but ever single one of us on this earth has a mental problem one way or the other. It could be bad or mild, simply things as getting mad really easy, not talking about problems, many many things.
Ever single one of us is capable of murder. Its our own choice what we do and no one can do nothing about it but our selves. Guns do not kill people, knives do not kill people, vehicles do not kill people, PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE!
With that being said, should we remove all the knifes of the world when someone stabs people? Should we remove all the guns because one got in the hands of the wrong one? If we should then they should be removed from the police and soldiers as well. If not we will have problems with people joining all forces that allows you to have a gun and then we are right back where we started.
I don't understand why people don't use their common sense. I feel so sorry for all the familys. I could not imagine going through something like that. I can understand them being mad and hurt but the people bad mouthing the boy who killed them, who do they think they are hurting? They can't hurt him cause he is dead.
I don't know about any of you but I WILL NOT get rid of my guns I dont care who likes it.

Really?

It is a very stupid argument that "guns don't kill, people kill"!

The same stupid logic can be used on any number of subjects.

Illegal drugs don't kill, they just there in the package until someone abuses the drug.
But they're against the law.

Selling sex doesn't kill, it's the disease that is spread by the sex that kills.
But it's against the law.

Laws should be made to protect the general public from the effects of these inanimate objects that are used to kill multiple humans easily from a distance very quickly.

Maybe we can't stop all the killing.
Let's at least reduce the speed and efficiency of the killing!

CEDAR LAKE, Ind.-- A northern Indiana man who allegedly threatened to "kill as many people as he could" at an elementary school near his home was arrested by officers who later found 47 guns and ammunition hidden throughout his home.

Von. I. Meyer, 60, of Cedar Lake, was arrested Saturday after prosecutors filed formal charges of felony intimidation, domestic battery and resisting law enforcement against him. He was being held Sunday without bond at the Lake County Jail, pending an initial hearing on the charges, police said in a statement.

Cedar Lake Police officers were called to Meyer's home early Friday after he allegedly threatened to set his wife on fire once she fell asleep, the statement said.

Meyer also threatened to enter nearby Jane Ball Elementary School "and kill as many people as he could before police could stop him," the statement said. Meyer's home is less than 1,000 feet from the school and linked to it by trails and paths through a wooded area, police said.

On Saturday, officers served warrants at Meyer's home and arrested him. The statement said police had learned that Meyer kept many weapons in his older, two-story home.

Officers searched the home, finding 47 guns and ammunition worth more than $100,000 hidden throughout the home.

Lake County police spokeswoman Patti Van Til said Sunday that a SWAT team from the department assisted in serving Saturday's warrants.

47 guns and he couldn't fight off a SWAT team?
What good is the 2nd Amendment now?
That militia BS is just that!

Think about this people. Have any of you seen the movie Red Dawn, either the new or the old one? It is about a over seas country that comes in and takes over the US. The people of the Us fight back and take control back over the US. If we took all guns from the US, the next week we will be owned by China, Japan, Korea or someone will come in and take our country. Just that simple. Michigan has the best answer, after this last school shooting. They passed a new law which will allow people who have their concelled carry license to carry guns now to school, churches, hospitals, court houses, etc. Why you ask? Simple this puts a good guy with a gun in the situation.

What will stop a bad guy with a gun? A GOOD GUY WITH A GUN!

If one of those teachers had a gun, or one of the parents this could have ended a lot sooner and with much less lives taken.

Probably one of the dumbest reasons I have ever heard for the pro-gun movement!

You are a complete idiot if you think you and everyone else could fight off an enemy that had already kicked the US military's ass!

Ok so will it be ok for the government to outlaw and take knives when someone gets stabbed to death, what about pencils, pens, screwdrivers, they all can be used as a weapon to kill innocent adults and children. How about outlaw cars, truck and other means of transportation. There have been tons of kids killed by drunks drivers, or how many people have been killed due to someone texting. Guns are not the only thing that when not used in a responsible way can kill.............

Kind of like drugs being illegal has stopped all the overdoses in this county alone, let alone the whole country? Get real. It won't slow it down in the least. All it will do is raise prices for guns because they are illegal. If someone wants meth, they get meth. If someone wanted an illegal gun, they would get it because their would be a gun dealer just like a drug dealer wanting to get rich. Like someone said before, if that principal could of had a concealed weapon on her in that school, do you not think when she was one of the first to see him she wouldn't have shot him and ended it there instead of lunging at him in hopes it would slow him down? She is an absolute hero for doing what she could for her students, but she could be a hero that was talking in place of our sorry president tonight at that news conference had she had a gun. Think about it.

I agree 100%. It is sad when one person can walk in a place with a gun and demolish the lives of so many because they were helpless due to no type of protection. It just goes to show that no protection among the innocent does not work. If the staff had of had some form of protection, how many would there have been against the one comitting the crime? It saddens me to think that the only thing the staff could do is try to hide those innocent children from this man as a way of protecting them.It makes me cringe to think how many may have been lost if the police had not arrived when they did. Thats why we need some type of protection because officers can not be at all places at all times to protect us.

Killed a total of 168 innocent people
Killed 19 innocent children under 6 years old
Injured 680 innocent people
You can still buy fertilizer
You can still buy racing fuel
You can still rent box trucks

There is plenty of people in every county who does not have a job. Why can't the school hire someone who knows how to use a gun in every school? Sure he/she may not never need to use it but he/she will be there if needed.
My point for this topix is that a gun is useless unless it is in SOMEONE"S hand. It can't shot by itself. Put one in my hand, honestly if someone was threatening to kill me, I am not sure if I could use it. Some of you probably wouldn't hesitate to use it but I think I would. I am being honest but not certain.
Many of you brought up drugs. You blame the doctors for prescribing them-bottom line is a doctor can not get in your head and tell if you need them or not. He/She prescribing them is a judgement call and unfortunately sometimes they are wrong. They do their jobs of trying to help and if the person abuses it its not the doctors fault.
If a drug is not taken like it is suppose to be taken it is illegal as well. If it says take it ever 6 hours that dont mean it is ok ever 4 hours. Drugs is a bigger problem than anything that any of us face including guns. Drugs has killed more than a gun ever dared to. And who's choice is that.....it is each and ever single person's on choice.

And I didn't mean to just hire just anyone to stay in the schools with a gun. But their job could include other things like assisting the Secretary. Back 30 years ago when my parents sent me to school I needed a pencil and paper. Now we send around $100 worth of school supplies to school, after Christmas break they ask for more supplies. I am not complaining about buying stuff my children need to help them learn but if the school could make it 30 years ago with paper and pencils why can't they now?

Could you tell me one, just one, incident that took place with a gun killing someone that it wasn't in someone's hand?
But I will agree with you on some things you brought up. BUT it all comes back around to a PERSON.
SEX-The PERSON decides that their needs is more important than the lives of others so they spread it.
DRUGS-The PERSON decides that their needs is more important that their own life so they use it. Which in many cases kills others especially if they get a gun or behind a wheel while impaired.
To reduce the speed of killing you would have to find someone who can read peoples mind and get in each and every person's head and know what they are going to do and what they are planning to use to do it. Myself I don't think that's possible.

You know something I don't understand about the president. He wants gun control, BUT on the other hand he will take the American Soldiers and place one in their hand. Guns, drugs and many many other things are illegal. Guns are illegal for some people. But you are right, if they want them they will get them one way or another.

Is that it? Is that the best gun lovers can come up with?

Their answer to gun violence is
more people with more guns!

You've got to be kidding?
How did that work in the wild west? Ever wonder why they called it the wild west?

Damn! We've got to do better than that! There are too many people and now even kids are being killed so gun lovers can fondle their weapons.

violence is a very real act. always has been always will be. now that such a violent act has occured once again, it way past time that we a a nation understand that the only effective way to deal with violenc is to meet it with overwhelming violence. this is a issue i differ with my liberal friends,we fight fire with fire! and yes we need more people with guns, when i was a student here in cumb co. everybody had guns in their vehicle and no one would have done something like this because students were armed as was teachers, its obvious we need to live in the reality that people do mean others harm, and one should not resist violence when confronted with it, one should overwhelm it with extreme violence and we should teach our youth this reality, not the fantasy that one should resist. arm teachers and security! so that our children and teachers have a "fighting chance" !

got one fact for you, hunters in the United States represent the largest army in the world over 15,000,000 strong, that's over 10 larger than the next biggest military. that's why we have not had a foreign invader since the British also why the rest of the world wants the US disarmed

And where does that arming of America stop?
Every shopping mall, McDonalds, Wendy's, Subway, gas stations, flower shops, park, school, college classrooms, ect, ect, everywhere needs an armed guard?
What kind of society would that be to live in?

Hell, I'd rather live in a police state than have every idiot in America packing a weapon, which is what you're advocating.

we (my family) have several guns and we get outside and shoot them at targets and I remember when I was growing up and would visist my familys homes there was ALWAYS guns hanging on the walls and hanging in the back window of the pick up truck and NEVER did I see one of them guns jump up and pull the trigger and shoot someone. The problem is not the guns the problem is people that handle them. If a person wants 2 kill someone they can do it without using a gun. They can stab them, poison them, as little as you think about it they could throw something and hit them in the head and kill them, they could run over them, suffacate them. Lets face it people if you truly want to kill someone you can do it with just about anything. So are we gonna out law everything?

One of the biggest problems is the American way of"My---is better than your---)way of thinking.Remember the day when most men carried a pocket knife and a few carried a revolver.A fist fight was more common than anything with a gun.Now the revolver has been replaced by something more powerful and capable of firing many times as many bullets.Without some controls where will this ever stop.
Guns are like anything else in life, the more you are exposed the less you respond in their presence.Putting armed guards in schools is a bad idea because it will give children the idea that it is alright to kill another person. If there were only revolvers and bolt action rifles mass killings would not be done with ease by one person. No matter how well armed you are there is always another that is armed better and has less regret about killing.

what is crazy is having a school full of unprotected children! these kids was sitting ducks and no way to protect themselves! yes i want a society that "levels the playing field" and at least gives the ones responcable for keeping them safe a fighting chance! in this case again, its being reported this individual had a mental illness, had access to firearms, enabled by his mother, who purchased the firearms legally! crazy people should not be allowd to get their hands on firearms! personally want a background check in place to prohibit crazy people from getting firearms, in lew of that arm teachers and security at schools! why is it crazy to fight back?
