Black people...especially young blacks, please think before you start to 'report' things on here. Nobody has to know some of the things that go on with you if you didn't post them. I am a Black mother of four and try very hard to make sure they grow up to be upstanding people in the future. In fact, Im getting them out of here because Blytheville has an evil dark cloud over it that stifles any growth for this community. Can't you see it? You talk about each other on here...what Caucasians are looking for and laughing at...and then you want to call the Whites out for disrepecting you. You're disrespecting yourselves. Have you ever heard the saying that it is better to let someone think you're dumb than to open your mouth and remove all doubt? We're better than that, but by some of your postings on here, you can't tell. You have told everybody's business from the bedroom to the church..and for what? Yes, there are Whites who are on here doing the same thing, but why can't we overcome it? The problem with today's Black generations is there is not enough knowledge of history and where you came from. If half of you knew this, then you would know how to respect yourselves and demand respect from others. You come from Kings and Queens and don't let any other race tell you differently. You have the power to be whatever you want to be, it's in you and that's what has other races running scared and constantly saying negative things so you'll feel bad and won't try to succeed. An educated Black person is the most deadly weapon in this country. Let's get our children through school, get them graduated, off to college so our race will rise up and be the chosen ones that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. marched so many marches for, Harriet Tubman risked her life to save other slaves for, Rosa Parks sat on that bus and didn't move for, and all the other blacks who lost their lives fighting for our freedom. If we can't respect ourselves, at least pay homage to them. Visit the Civil Rights Museum in Memphis...only an hour away...and learn the story of the struggles and then you will see how senseless posting things on Blytheville Topix is. There's another way people, always another way. Sometimes it takes moving away to really appreciate what life has to offer you because obviously you're not finding it here. Stay prayerful that God will continue to take care of this community and bless your children. This forum is useless and only brings more clouds of animosity and hate over our city.

No disrespect because I think your post is a good one, but I feel like it's the past that is keeping your race down. In other words, all black people can focus on is the slavery days and that white people "owe" them. If they keep living in the past they will never rise up to be upstanding Americans. Not saying there aren't racist whites out there, but blacks have an issue with whites because of the past. Whites have issues with blacks because they are always playing that card. Its getting old, actually its past old. I do agree this town is full of hate on both sides, I've been in other towns and cities and have never felt the tension I feel here. I was born and raised here, left for several years, never had a problem with blacks until I came back here. This town has a bad vibe that somehow makes you prejudice. I think its the lack of respect for yourselves and each other. I do believe if you want respect you have to demand it, but I also believe you have to first respect yourself and without that no one will ever respect you.

Well, guest, everyone is entitled to their opinions. I am by no means a racist. I dont see color when I communicate with people. I look for intelligence and compassion. Never once did i say White people owe me or 'us' anything. And we, as Black people do have to look back at our past in order to appreciate the struggle and what we have accomplished now. That's all I was saying. You don't have a history like ours, so of course you can relate. If you do something in the past that had a bad outcome, wouldn't you want to learn from it, never to repeat the same mistakes twice? Yes, you would. That's the point Im trying to get across. It seems as though people, especially White people are intimidated by the truth and start adding things to comments because you definitely read my post wrong!! And as far as being a part of the school district, I don't preach prejudice and racism to the students, thank you. I am who I am and feel the way I feel, never would I condone anyone disliking someone for the color of their skin and I am offended that you would come at me like that. Unfortunately, this post does not allow people to see each other and words can only do so much, but you have to know me to know all of your accusations about me are wrong and unfounded. You are, nevertheless, entitled to your opinion and thank you for responding to my post. Have a nice day

Thank you FTWF, for saying it. As a white outsider, I almost posted to another site to not even bother with Blythe; it is a lost cause. With well-written posts like yours, I am willing to admit that I made a snap judgment. Your wisdom and hope shines through and above that gray cloud of despair. I hope you take greater opportunity to lead.

I love everybody and if I have a problem with a person,it's because of that person's character, not their skin. Maybe one day in the future, Blytheville will get it right. Once again, thanks for responding.

Education is, and always will be the best tool available against bigotry and racism. I am Caucasian, and I find your posting refreshing. Thank you. There is hope.

I wish you could get that message out to everyone, black AND white! You're right, there does seem to be an evil dark cloud over this area and it's getting worse every day. I really enjoyed reading your post "FTWF", you're very wise. It may sound stupid, but that needs to be put in the newspaper so everyone can read it! And it doesn't matter at all, but I'm white.

@ Fighting the Wrong Fight.....Reading this was like a breath of fresh air. All of the negativity that I have read in these postings has been suffocating. I have nothing to add or take away because you said it perfectly. I hope everyone reads your post and grows from it.

Look what they had to endure. The suffering and death. Do you hear them throwing a fit and saying anyone owes them anything? No they overcame the huge tragedy that was their lives. All im saying is every race has suffered some. We never know what it's like until we have walked in that persons shoe's. You want respect then treat others with the same. Pull your pants up and stop exspecting the worls to pay for something that happened a long long time ago. If you had personally suffered a whipping from a slave owner then i could understand. Not many blacks have a clue what it was like.

DEAR HEART, when u tell history, use all facts...the jews suffered in thier own country by those of their own country.....Blacks suffered @ the hands of others in a strange land they where trip into coming 2. Not 2 mention, thier skin is white.....See this things is about what state or country u came from, it's about the COLOR OF THE FLESH U SEE N THE IGNORANCE U FEEL..... The 1 thing I do agree with is that respect is earned...But it goes both ways..All people deseave 2 b treated according 2 each persons OWN actions not a group......There is the kkk/shin heads/crips/bloods/ms13 aclu/naacp arian brotherhood/mosslums ect......There r people all over this great land GOD created 4 us 2 care 4 n all we can do is form clicks 2 hurt each other. It's ok 2 agree 2 disagree but with the understanding that we all have the VERY SAME BACIS RIGHTS IN LIFE.....FREEDOM is being paid right this minute by some of the very people I just mentioned..If they can come 2gether over there 2 see 2 it that each of them get back 1in 1 piece, why can't us FREE FOLK do the same...COULD ANY 1 WHITE/BLACK tell me why u really HATE the other? Then go 2 ur neighborhood and friends and people u know n see if you don't have people u know that act like the people u talk so bad about.....god help us all

I frequent this forum quite a bit and I must say that it was so refreshing to read this thread. I noticed that even though there was a little disagreement in a couple of the comments you guys reframe from name calling. Believe it or not that alone was a step in the right direction. As adults no matter what the race/nationality/etc. respect is earned and yes we can agree to disagree. Now if we could just take some of these words of encouragement and share it with our families we maybe be able to overcome alot of this hate. But I believe it starts at home. God Bless all of you guys.
