Middle School Closings

Marksville finally got its wish. They have succeeded in making an excuse to close, not only their own (out of town) Middle School, but all the others. Now the burden is, again, on parents and students out of town to wake up their children (the ones who will pay for this) earlier for bus pickup.

The only thing that matters is our kids. Is this what's best for them? If they're not getting the resources they need at the middle schools, then maybe this will be better. I don't know. I do know that it will not be easy for the kids to transition straight to high school. Kids can be very mean. All we can do is pray for our children and for our school board memebers to make the right decisions.

I was raised in Marskville, and I have been gone for 17 yrs, I recently came to Marksville for a visit and they are still doing what they were doing back then selling drugs. This was long over do. The only thing was in the 80 you had Bill Belt has sheriff and hell he was selling them to even his deputies. So, now they have the Casnio now it is even worst, yes if it is to protect the kids,I think they need one big school. I think Newman Greenhouse and whoever the sheriff is now and the mayor need to get together and come up with some idea for a school for these young kids

I was raised in Pointee Coupee Parish and when I was attending school the school was all one, so yea I think they should close the middle schools. Maybe the extra funding they get for these schools can go to better teaching to these children that are here. Personally I thing the quality of education here is very poor. Discipline with these children are very poor also. I remember when I was going to school, my teacher put me in the hallway one day for talking in class, well It only took one time for me to learn a lesson. If my principle saw anyone in the hallway standing there by the class room, put out by the teacher, he had a paddle in his hand, the only hand he had, and one swat on the behind scared you. You didn't see to many students standing in the hallway. If we had more principles like that in this parish, the kids would probably be more respectful to. If parents would let the schools discipline there children and stop screaming child abuse, just maybe these kids would learn respect to not just teachers, but to their parents and people in general. Think about it. I'm in my 50's and in my generation, you had less kids in jail and more kids graduating and going to college to make something of themselves.

This is Def. not a good idea. I was raised old school also, but thanks for the "Whiny" parents and government stepping in.. our kids can't be disciplined at school or at home for that matter like they were back in the day.. and the pre-teens that are built like women will def not help when you place them in school with half grown men with raging hormones.. They are not mentally nor physically mature enough to be in the same school with kids twice thier age. I just wonder how long it will be before they realize the mistake.

Well this is how I feel about this situation. I once went to Marksville Middle School. I was only there for my 3 years I was very smart and I listen to my teachers. But when I was in the 8th grade there It was getting worse, there were medal detectors being but in locks on bathroom doors.Fence going up that is a bunch of bull grap.Bc now I am a mother of 2 kids and one will be going to the 6th grade soon He will not attend Marksville Middle if It is still here when that time comes.I think it will be a great Idea to close those schools our kids should not have to be treated like it is a prisonover there bc that is what it looks like. As for discipline at school when we put our kids in these peoples hands for 9months out of the year i think they should be able to correct them if nessary why let them get suspended are expelled that dont make no sense but anyways that is what i think about that.
