2AM-riding in the back of a pickup truck?
God rest his young soul.

It strikes me odd that there is such a big stink about wearing seatbelts but yet, people can still ride in the back of a pickup.

It's illegal in the state of Virginia to ride in the back of a pickup. For this exact reason. But three people can't fit in that tiny pickup so they had to do something. I'm assuming alcohol was involved.

It is not illegal for persons older than the age of 16 to ride in the back of a pickup truck.

While it may not be illegal-it's pretty stupid.
What a waste.

Kevin was a 2005 graduate of Osbourn Park High School, Manassas where he lettered in football for four years and was co-captain of the team his senior year when he was named the team's Most Valuable Player. He also was named to the All District team that year and to the Washington Post's All-Regional Team. He also attended Germanna Community College in Fredericksburg.

Kevin moved to Lake Anna soon after his graduation where he was introduced to the real estate world. He earned his license in 2007 and became a Realtor, joining the firm of Lake Anna Island Realty.

In addition to being an avid Washington Redskins fan, Kevin enjoyed both hunting and fishing.

His generous heart and compassionate nature served as a model to all. Kevin, or "Kevie" as he was called by all who loved him, was known as the "helping hand" of the Lake Anna area. His loss is immeasurable.

Kevin is survived by his father, Kevin H. Simpson and wife, Lisa, of Leesburg; his mother, B Lukstat Simpson and husband, John, of Manassas; one sister, Virginia C. "Jennie" Simpson; one brother, John R. "Jake" Simpson; his grandparents, Florence E. Simpson of Burke, and Jennie and Dick Lukstat, of Lake Anna; stepbrothers and sisters, Bradley, Kristen, Billy, Mary Ann, Heather, Caitlyn and Cody; three uncles, Richard H. Lukstat Jr. and wife, Wendy, and their daughter, Kristin, Jeff Simpson and wife, Jenny, and their children, Sean, Missy and Jessie, and Ellis Simpson and his children, Daniel, Carl and Chris; and one aunt, Pat Endicott and husband, Ron, and their daughter, Stephanie.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center St., Manassas where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of flowers or contributions to the Memorial Scholarship Fund in honor of Kevin Simpson, c/o Osbourn Park High School, 8909 Euclid Ave., Manassas, Va. 20110.

Kevin always made good choices in his life. It is unfortunate he made a poor choice that Friday night/Saturday morning to sit in the back of the truck for a 2 mile ride. Yet it is understandable, thinking it is a short ride, it will be ok. How I wished they used a taxi or took Signal Hill Rd instead of Quarry Road, which is difficult to drive at anytime.

Kevin will never will be forgotten.

Having been good friends with Kevin and his grandparents for a few years now has been my privledge. I have seen first hand the grief this has caused so many. Kevin genuinely cared about people and this world has lost something special.

I've known Kevin since I was 5 years old. He was one of the best friends someone could ever have. I can't believe you're gone.

RIP Kevin. We will always miss you.

My family just found out about Kevin's passing this weekend. We were shocked. We only knew Kevin a short time from our trips to the Lake. Kevin struck us as a very caring person and took the time to say hi every time we saw him. Our hearts go out to his entire family.
