I went there once about a month ago but I will never go back. The issue I had is that the auctioneer, Jim Cox, was calling out fake bids to run the bidding up. He did it repeatedly throughout the night and when it was so obvious what he was doing he just tried to say he made a mistake. He does also bid on items himself too which I don't agree with either. That is bad enough but calling out phantom bids to drive up the bidding is just completely unacceptable to me and for that reason I will not return. I asked a couple people that go there all the time and they also confirmed that he does it all the time to drive up the bids. If he is going to bid on an item he should announce that the house is making a bid. If he did that then I would not have a problem with it.

you have been on several forums about this auction house. It's obvious you have no time on your hands and you are trying to slander good, honest people. Find a new hobby. Pfft

It is a fake bid when Jim Cox bids an item up hoping to increase the bid interest but when the bidding stops nobody has the high bid and Jim Cox does not claim the high bid because he really never wanted to win the item. He was just bidding it up and it happened more than once on the Wednesday night I was there. I was told that he does that quite a bit on the slow nights and I witnessed it for myself. I am an experienced auction goer so I am fully aware of what went on. It was no mistake or mix up. It was intentional fake bids called by Jim Cox because his auction struggles to get people there on Wednesdays and now on Mondays, from what I hear. I understand that they are having problems paying the bills but scaring away potential regular customers like myself is not the way to do it. If you can't fill the seats on a certain night then either cancel the auction or go with what you have and make the best out of it. DO NOT RUN UP THE BIDS BECAUSE YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE AN ITEM SELL TOO CHEAP OR NOT AT ALL! Another issue there is that they will put an item up for bid without stating there is a reserve and then not sell it to the highest bidder. That also happened more than once on the night I was there and from what people have told me it is a regular practice there. If there is a reserve, state it before you take any bids. If there is no reserve then the item should be sold to the highest bidder. Otherwise you are running a fraudulent auction. If a seller enters an item up for auction without saying there is a reserve price the item should be sold to the highest accepted bid. If the auctioneer accepts a bid for even 1 dollar, the item needs to be sold. Do not accept a bid if it is not high enough to be the winning bid. On one item he actually asked for someone to start the bidding off at any amount and then got a few low bids but then said that the bids were not high enough and said "bring it back". To me, this is not good auction practices. IF THERE IS A RESERVE THEN STATE IT BEFORE YOU START THE BIDDING! IF YOU NEED TO START THE BIDDING AT A CERTAIN AMOUNT THEN DO THAT BUT DO NOT ALLOW THE BIDDING TO START AT A LOWER AMOUNT WITHOUT FIRST STATING THERE IS A RESERVE UNLESS YOU INTEND TO LET THE ITEM SELL! I do not think that it is professional auctioneer practice for the auctioneer to bid on the items he is auctioning. It is unethical in my opinion. There seems to be too many bad practices at the Bulls Gap auction run by Jim Cox for me to ever want to go there again. I frequently go to much larger auctions but do sometimes enjoy attending these smaller ones as well. If I change my mind and give it one more try I better not see these types of practices or I would definitely never return.

How many other forums are you going to copy and paste the same thing? You're the only one that has something bad to say. Get over it. They are doing great with or without you. Another small town loser that has time on their hands.

If you read all the posts on the other forums you will see that several other people have complained about the same issues. I was not the only one to say something bad and the only reason I keep posting is because you keep responding with defensive remarks. You say they are doing great without me but I don't see how they could be doing that good in a crappy old barn filled with cats & dogs in the middle of nowhere. I really don't see how they could possibly be making much money. If they are lucky they are scraping by just enough to pay the rent & expenses.

White horn auction is the best choice for auctions in 4counties .those guys had some problems when they started but Jim cox and his staff have really turned. That place around the animals are gone the food is great and legal .and so is the auction they have business license , tax id numbers , a licensed auctioneer who runs everything clean with no fixed. Bids and no fixed contest like many others do. They have sales every wed.fri.and sat.at7pmthe best dealers with merchandise for everyone from 3 states and locals too . My family and I go no where but white horn and so do many of my friends and family .spread the news white horns second to none give em a try you,ll go back for more

I use to go to that auction with my husband and quit going because it was all a joke yeah the got heat in there but they dont leave it on long enough for everybody to get warm the womans bathroom dont work the auctioneer bid s on things himself to make them go up one of the floor workers snatches things out of the other floor workers hands and there are always more rulez everytime u go. The only decent one there is jim's wife and the old man who does the money because nothing come up wrong when my tickets get added up and the yound lady that always calling the old man daddy is pretty decent but from what ive heard the old man got told he couldnt work there anymore because money came up missing and the old man got blamed for it and i know the old man pretty good and hes never stole from jim he considers jim as his friend the ones jim needs to check are the ones who blamed the old man instead of the old man because ive always said the one who points fingers have 4 pionting back at them its sad he wants to blame the old man when the old man worked for himfor 2 years and aint never stole from him before
Most of you who attend the auction know me. I'm Richard or "the old man" everyone refers to.
And yes there was a problem the other night but it wasn't the money and I wasn't accussed of anything. Jim and I had a disagreement but that has since been resolved .
So, that being said...I believe an apology from Mrs Bitch is what's needed here. I'd appreciate it if she woild apologize here on topix so that everyone knows that she didn't have the whole story and jumped the gun. Jim and I have had enough problems with this forum and the auction. We don't need more. Thank yoi for taking the time to read this and I hope to still see all of you at the sale.

You know I can remember a time that east tn. Was a great place to live, but now that I've grown older and maybe a little wiser, I see it's no different than anywhere else in this crummy world. Low life's telling lies to hurt someone else or someones business , and this dinky gossip line that I heard was actually owned by a local newspaper. What,s happen to our country and the care we once had for one another, I think god is about fed up with the way things are going. Might do you a little good to talk to him every now and then , you know he will you accountable for all these lies, or maybe your an atheist and don't know any thing about god , sounds like your parents did not teach you right from wrong , think about hell it's eternal and all those lies gonna get you there , no im not perfect , makes mistakes daily but my parents taught me a few good morrells in life, it's a shame yours didn't care enough about you to teach you different, my names Jim cox and I now work part time when I feel like it for my son Justin at the auction in bulls gap tn. Come on down , you find any sex , drugs , and nonsense but you might get a bargain or two, and learn what prayer we open every sale with a talk to god , couldn't hurt, you might change your way of living and have something to look forward too , instead of telling all these stupid lies on this website that gods not happy with, see you at the auction tues. in rogersville at east side grill or wed , fri , or sat at white horn , I'll remember you in my prayers oh by the way have a blessed holiday season
