TO ALL THOSE CONCERNED IN THE MATTER SOME IMPROVEMENTS HAVE BEEN DONE ALREADY BY SOME PEOPLE LIKE THE TUNNEL AND THE BRIDGE IN TO OLD CITY I SEE GOT A FACE LIFT SOMEWHAT.I THINK WE NEED TO SUPPORT THE IDEA OF A POLICE DEPT AND THE OLD BANK BUILDING WOULD BE PERFECT FOR IT AND I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A STEAM ENGINE TRAIN TOUR MOVE TO THE OLD CITY THAT WOULD BRING JOBS AND REVENUE TO SPUCE UP OLD CITY
The average family in this area is trying to pay for groceries and rent. I doubt they are going to pay for a "steam engine tour" to see trailer park backyards and cow-patty dotted pasture fields. If you want to invest your money in it though, have at it. But you should not expect the rest of us to sink our tax dollars into renovating old buildings and taking on the huge risk of running a dinosaur passenger train on a railroad track that is meant for high speed transportation of goods and equipment. Or do you want the taxpayers to build you a new railroad, too?

I grew up in the gap and have seen a lot of history come and go. I remember the old hotel well. I grew up in the Susong building and had friends in the hotel. Does anyone remember old Polly. The parrot that remembered all the kids names. I grew up to marry and live in the apartments. I had the privilege to play the old player piano that sat in the parlor. So I have a lot of memories of the Hotel and the people that lived there and Mr. and Mrs. Gilley. I also knew Ruby. As for "Huh" you don't know what you are talking about. I wish we could save the old building. If people would donated lumber and windows that would go a lot further than money.
