Hello blue collar and nice to meet you. I believe the exact figure to be invested by Nucor is 30 Million and yes you are correct it's fifty more opportunities for working folks. More jobs are being created as we speak and many more coming in the near future. |
unfortunately that might take a while. It is amazing that the ACC has such power to cripple a project like Pravada. Rhodes has done everything that he was asked. I find the beurocrates disgusting. Just what is their beef? |

Anhyone see today's paper? Council couldn't make a decision of the Wind Power? What gives? |

I think their trying to change or modify the ordinance so it will be non discriminate and allow any property owner with any size parcel the opportunity if they choose to take advantage of clean wind energy. I agree, clean energy technology should be available to everyone and I look forward to the changes being made and the new ordinance applied in the very near future. |

The convienence store was even better. 3-3 tie, then vote 5-1 to allow the change from C1 to C2 but no on the store, and finally after taking a break take back the vote and decide to wait until Deering is there. Now they have to notify everyone because most of the people who attended to support/oppose the issue left. And they thought the last election would bring back confidence back to the city? They just went from a council that made decisions some didn't like to one that can't make decisions. Add onto that their inability to decide on the Impact Fees and I say its time for business investors focus be placed outside of Kingman and along the I40 cooridor for growth while the '7 stooges' continue with their comedy routine. |

1 I agree it is taking longer than anticipated however good things come to those who have patience. Pravada will be the cleanest greenest crowned jewel in Mohave with a huge top notch Utility to service the community. The advanced technologies Utilities Inc. brings with them are second to none and Pravada I think will serve as a model community for all future master plans not only in GV & Mohave but nationwide. I do hope we get the approvals very soon so the improvements in GV can commence once again in a timely manner. The ball fields JR already built for our youth on Aztec rd are very nice and I would sure like to see the kids using them very soon. |
I didn't see that in the paper. Someone must have remained unchanged if it still wasn't unanimous. How could they vote against the store if they were changing the zoning that is would be on? Were they voting on the store or the zone change? It sounds like the first vote was for the zone change and the second for the store? I am confused. I guess they were too if they changed minds after the 2nd vote and are going to bring the people back. |

I think on Aztec rd anwered this. I want wind too. I think it was a good decision to take it back so that changes could be made so anyone could have it. Instead of only acre lots. |

It was in the paper Wednesday. They are also showing the meeting on NPG cable channel 11. The owner was asking to change from C1 to C2 and has been in discussions with the residents on permissable uses. This is associated with the Tuscany Village development on Eastern. I believe the owner has someone lined up to put a convienence store in the existing building and concerns from residents focused on alcohol and tobacco whereas council dissenters were Young on making it C2 and Watson and Walker on increased traffic near an elementary school. After the initial tie, Watson proposed to approve the C2 zoning minus a convienence store. During the break, the reporter for the Miner approached the Mayor and questioned if they shouldn't have waited until Deering could vote so after the break he motioned to repeal the vote, city attorney said they could and they voted 6-0 to wait. |

It is good to get the setbacks right. The problem is in the council not being involved when these workshops are taking place and waiting to question things at the end. P&Z staff has been working with the community on this for awhile now and these issues on setbacks came up previously. It seems someone needs to be better guiding staff in listening to the people so that these issues are addressed upfront and not at the time of final approval. Too many times it seems that staff is left in developing ordinances and amendments without clear directions and guidance only to have questions, that should have been addressed much earlier brought up at the time of approval. Its no wonder things take so long to get passed. |

With this RE market as depleted as it remains thruout most of USA, it is only practical for JR to allow, with disgression, these added months of delay, by ACC etc.
We need to understand that even with the complete approvals, JR is an astute business man and will happlily wait for a partial RE turn-around B-4 he would consider spending necessary $$$ for the sewer, water, electrical etc infra-structure. It just is not practical for Him to proceed with any major spending until late 2009...at the earliest. We would enjoy seeing some greater progress B-4 then; however, the entire economy needs to show some greater signs of continued-growth. As a GV property owner, I would also enjoy seeing something start at Pravada, but I believe our wait will be worth the significant gains that Pravada will bring to the entire N/W Arizona area. |

I agree totally. Sure I was hoping to make a quick buck but guess I,(all of us), going to have to be patient for a few extra years. My concern right now are the upcoming elections on where this country will be heading. God, I hope Obama doesn't win but with the way Americans are thinking nowadays anything is possible. We just have to button down the hatches and survive this storm. I for one am going to continue to work and save cash. Going to do more fishing starting next year and get back to basics. |

It was interesting to see them fumble this one around. Private property owners should be allowed to attempt to improve their property though legal means. Sometimes this includes asking for a zoning change to include other uses. Now I don't have a problem with a city leader saying and voting no on zoning changes... but Mrs. Young seemed to fear that this developer would be back to ask for other zoning changes in the future as a reason not to grant this change. I think that is poor judgment and reasoning. I mean so what?? So what that the developer comes back next time and asks for a zoning change... make a decision. They are the elected... render a decision and stand behind it. However if the decision is made simply because at one time the land had a certain zoning classification and therefore it should always have that classification... then it would make it tough for me to support and vote for that kind of leadership. After all, things change over time due to various reasons such as demand and growth. But... as long as the property owner got a fair shake through due process and then ended up on the wrong side of a vote of the council... then I'm fine with it. Can't win all the battles. As far as the increase traffic concerns went for a neighborhood convenience store goes though... again bad judgment. Others have already said this but if traffic was a real concern then they shouldn't have allowed for a restaurant in the complex. If the place is any good, people from all sides of town will be increasing traffic in that neighborhood far more than a convenience store would. I'm certainly not going to be heading across town for a 20 oz diet pepsi max when I would be passing multiple other locations that offer me the same product at exactly the same price. I do think that the council is fair and I like the current roster just fine. But Tuesday was a bad performance. |
Ihad a wind generater on my place and it was loud.Maybe they should keep it to an acre. |

19 I totally agree very astute indeed and the communities he builds are outstanding to say the least. Forward looking is the way I'd describe him as well. The Nevada Ranch & Tuscany communities are outstanding but GV South will far surpass previous developments in regard to infrastructure and cutting edge technologies. Once the approval is granted the decision to start building the very next day or first quarter 2009 will be made by JR and his very capable competent staff. I'm excited to see we are only hours or hopefully days away from realizing what we've all been waiting for. After almost 3 months of consideration I really don't think it can take much longer. Looking forward to seeing a fantastic entry leading into a beautiful upscale affordable community in the very near future. Example Here http://www.tuscanygolfclub.com/sites/courses/... |
