We recently had the displeasure of going out to eat at Grill 51 ( the old Doghouse Location). The food was ok but expensive and the wait staff was terrible. The girl dumped drinks on my husband, she didn't ask if we wanted refils on our drinks, she forgot my salad and when it was time for the check she asked us 3 different times if we wanted our bill. Locally I would eat at Sony's Grill, Grill Street, Reddogs and the chain places. Forget Grill 51. Others I have talked to have had problems there.

I'm sorry you had a negative experience but I assure you that it was a fluke. The food is very good and reasonably priced (for the portion size). We have had great service 95% of the time. There is one waitress who is "flaky" who requires extra reminders and is not very efficient. Perhaps she is the one you had...
Jar Jar, it is owned by the Fouch's who reportedly have an automotive place further down 51.

They need to get better wait staff or a new business. It is a shame because is a beautiful place but they have no idea how to run it(except in the ground)!!! I met the chef before and he is very talented but the wait staff has to hurt him.You know they dont hurt thereselves getting off the bar stools.

I met the ower of the automotive place and he is VERY nice. His wife runs the place along with daughter in law. They have no clue what to do! Sad, because we needed a good place to eat and have drinks.

well my wife and i wont b back(well i may stop myself). most of the girls quoted by my wife seemed loose. not a good look for a new place unless it goes under and it could be a strip club because we watched alot of things going on between co workers. not a place for that unless they go back to the old name the doghouse. well i sure hope the owners open there eyes as to what is going on. especially a hostess and a guest male bartender!!

unforunately it is true, the chef is a very talented guy. the wait staff is terrible and lazy unless you have the chance to get the couple good wait staff that they have. I sure hope they get a clue. it is a beautiful place that has excellent food and such great potential. They need to listen to the people that have expeience.

I also had a bad experience at GRILL 51. The food was terrible and the service was the worst. I won't go back.

Almost hesitated to eat at Grille 51 after reading some of the comments on here. But I had a wonderful experience tonight. Went out with 3 friends for dinner and had zero problems with food or the service. Good fall seasonal beer selection and the waitress was friendly and brought refills whenever we needed them. Food is very reasonably priced, not expensive. Good quality food and nice casual atmosphere. Will def go back!

Things must have improved since they opened and the negative comments were made back in 2010. My wife and I went there recently and are planning on going back this weekend. The food was great,(try the seafood crepe!!) service was much better than previously described by others, and we had an enjoyable dining experience.

We have gone to Grille 51 several times and never had a single issue. Food and service were great. But as to the suggestions about Sonny's or Red Dog's instead...YUCK! I've tried both several times and the food and service are both awful. The last meal I had at Sonny's didn't arrive for a solid 45 minutes and was inedible it was so loaded with salt. The original Sonny's in Arnold City was always good, but this new one is definitely not the same.

I ENJOY GOING TO GRILL 51. I ALWAYS EAT AT THE BAR FOR FAST SERVICE AND DRINK REFILLS. NICE BOTTLE SELECTION IN THE SEE THRU COOLER. ALSO 2 BEERS ON ROTATION FOR DRAFT BREWS. I AM SO TIRED OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING IN THIS VALLEY.THIS AREA IS 10 YEARS BEHIND THE TIMES. IF YOUR TASTE IN BEER IS LIMITED TO A MILLER LIGHT I SUGGEST YOU PICK A $1 CHEESEBURGER AT MCDONALD'S AND GO TO ONE OF THE HUNDREDS OF DIVE BARS. I APPLAUD GRILL 51 FOR THEIR EFFORTS. I AM A BIG EATER AND CAN SPEND $12 AT A FAST FOOD PLACE EATING GARBAGE. GRILL 51 SPECIALS ARE VERY REASONABLY PRICED AND QUALITY.$17 DOLLARS FOR A NICE PIECE OF PRIME RIB COOKED TO PERFECTION WITH A BAKED POTATO AND FRESH VEGETABLES COOKED ON THE GRILL AND A LOAF OF FRESH BAKED BREAD AND BUTTER. I WILL BE COMPLETELY HONEST, FIRST THE REST OF THE REGULAR MENU RANGES FROM OK TO REALLY GOOD. GREAT SEAFOOD ALFREDO ! TO A PREFORMED BURGER? HOW HARD IS IT TO HAVE SOME FRESH GROUND BEEF AND MAKE A BURGER PATTY? LISTEN TO ME GRILL 51 THIS IS NOT THE TIME TO SKIMP.NEVER EVER EVER SKIP ON FOOD QUALITY. IF THE FOOD IS GOOD THE PEOPLE WILL KEEP COMING BACK ON A REGULAR BASIS. I WILL GLADLY PAY A LITTLE MORE FOR A QUALITY MEAL. SERVICE IS A LITTLE SLOW AND THERE IS A WAIT FOR THE FOOD.SOMETIMES IF I AM RELAXING I DONT MIND THE WAIT. BUT WHAT IF I AM STARVING? YOU NEED TO GET THE FOOD OUT A LITTLE QUICKER. AND NEVER SHOULD A CUSTOMER HAVE TO WAIT ON A DRINK REFILL, ESPECIALLY ALCOHOL! YOUR LOSING MONEY AND PISSING OFF CUSTOMERS AT THE SAME TIME. NOW FOR THE PRESSING QUESTION, DO I RECOMMEND THIS PLACE? HELL YEAH! THERE ISN'T ONE PERSON WHO WILL LIKE EVERYTHING ON A MENU AT ANY RESTAURANT! THIS PLACE HAS A FEW SMALL GLITCHES THAT NEED ADDRESSED BUT OTHER THAN THAT GIVE THIS PLACE A TRY MORE THAN ONCE.

I have worked at this so called business in the past and would not recommend it at all. The owners wife Dottie is in charge of the place and has no experience in the food industrie what so ever and in my opinion no common sense. I was a manager at several restaurants in the area and I tried to give her recommendations but she would not listen and thought she knew better. The place is going to go under very fast because of her and her ignorance. The customers are not treated well and if there is a complaint she does not know how to handle it. Also the wait staff is horriable because the only people that would work for Dottie Fouch are people that are unemployable anywhere else. One good thing, if you are interested in purchasing this business there is no doubt that it will be foreclosed on within the next few years.

You can't spell how could you run a restaurant? Another fool on this site downgrading others because they are unhappy with themselves and their own poor choices in life.

Well, the poster did miss on owner's and horrible but the message got across and it seems many agree with the basic complaints. I, however do not. Went there by accident a month or so ago, I was starving and there it was, food was good and got to me quickly. Stayed for an extra drink or two, at the bar, and noticed no carrying on by the help staff. Prices were a bit above what I'm used to but would go back with a date. The place must be coming around.
