Beirut tragedy forged community bond

Twenty-six years after a bombing in Lebanon stunned Jacksonville, Camp Lejeune and surrounding communities, veterans and their families still remember with sadness but are forging healing bonds.

I read Tom Rutter's name in The Daily News, Jacksonville, NC's newspaper. My husband and I both grew up in Essex-Middle River in the 40's and 50's. Jim spent his career in the Navy and we ended up here in Hubert, across from the Camp LeJeune Marine Base. It's nice to hear about someone from home, but very sad for the reason given. I hope he is doing fine, and not too tired from the trip down here and back. Janette Forbes
