this accident happened right in front of me. it was sooo bad. i was about 2 cars back when it happened. the blue jeep hit the minivan and they practically flew to the north bound lane. me and my friends just waited in our car to see if everyone was ok then the passenger in the minivan jumped out and opened the side door and pulled what seemed to be a lifless child... about ten people stopped and ran to her the woman was hol=ding a towel on her head i didn't know if she was ok. then right before the police told us to leave we ask a man if any one had died and he told us that a woman and a small child had died and it scared me sooooo bad. then i read this and its kind of a relief to find out that it wasn't a child but it isn't still because people had died. i have never seen anything like that before in my life. all i could think about was my son and my family. i was sooooooo scared to go home from buford. i just feel so sorry for the families that lost their loved one my hopes and prayers go out to them....

I've also witnessed a fatal wreck before, and For a long time I was absolutely horrified to even drive on any interstates. Well to a point I still am, and will go every back road possible to avoid them. About the only time I drive on them is when I am headed out of town now.
It will truly put your life into perspective when you witness such a tragedy. It also made me realize how fragile our lives really are.
The fatal wreck that I witnessed was up on I-24 Just North of Chattanooga. An 18 wheeler cut right over on a car, and the car lost control and started flipping right in front of me. I had to slam on my brakes. All I could think of is I had been 2 seconds faster driving it would have been me. I was on my way to visit my Parent's here in Douglasville, and I lived in Nashville at the time. It was on the 4th of July back in 2002.
That wreck was 100% the truck drivers fault. There is no way he couldn't have seen this car coming up next to him in the left hand lane. He was just impatient and wanted to hurry up and pass a slower car in the right hand lane, and whipped that rig on over.
I stopped since I had witnessed it, because I 1st wanted to check on the people in the car. I also wanted to make sure that I told the cops what happened, and I wanted to see that truck driver pay dearly for the horrible wreck he had caused.
I am petrified of 18 wheelers now thanks to that experience. I will floor it if I am traveling next to one on the interstate just so I can hurry up and get around them.

Hi Keesha - I'm a friend of one of the people killed in the accident. I was hoping I might be able to email you or call you to hear about this...I'm not really interested in who's at fault for the accident or anything - I'm just trying to understand how my friend's last moments were. Do you know how we might be able to get in touch? I didn't want to post public email on this post as I'm unfamiliar with it.

Thank you.
