what they havent told you is Mr O'Brien is a former NY State Trooper who now works for state gaming at the Seneca Allegany Casino and Hotel and was supposed to work at 12am. Wendy also worked at the casino and she was on her way to work that night. Additionally the person who phoned in the accident is also employeed by the casino and was en route to work.

He was in her lane, going the wrong way! I wonder how many tickets he wrote for drunk driving in his career as a State Trooper? So sad...

The person who called in the accident does not work at the casino and she was on her way home from there and yes he was an ex-state trooper and thats a pretty scary thought. Makes you wonder how many times he has gotten away with driving drunk. The reason I know about the person who called in is because she is my niece. Then again I'm sure that there was more than one person who called , but my niece was right there when it happenend she actually had to stay there at the scene because she is a witness.

Mr. Obrien is an arrogrant man who now wants people to believe that he only had three drinks followed by a meal. Not too many people drive in the wrong lane after just 3 drinks. We hope justice can be served here. This could be anybodys daughter, mom, sister or friend. We pray for her Family and her 2 teenage daughters left behind.

Mr. David O'Brien is a retired B.C.I Investigator (which I'm sure you are aware.) The woman that he killed is the niece of a friend of mine. She was an only child to a single mother, and left behind two daughters, 15 and 17 years old. I am asking that you please follow this story closely as you have done since it occurred. As you know, sometimes things have a way of being "swept under the rug" or people "get off" or the incident(s) just go away, in small, rural communities. I am not asking for interviews every day, etc., just that justice is served to this family. I am only repeating things that I have heard, but from witnesses (apparently there were several) who say that many people had to swerve to miss him and people were honking their horns and flashing their lights at him before he slammed into Wendy's car. She was in a compact car behind a large van and didn't even see him coming (Thank God!). Please stay on top of this thru-out the entire court proceedings and final sentencing. This man drove all the way from Cuba, NY to Carrollton, NY in this condition - its a wonder there weren't more people killed or injured!!! A retired NYS police officer - unbelievable! This CANNOT go away quietly. Mr. O'Brien deserves to go to jail for the maximum sentence, and also have his NYS retirement and/or pension (if he gets any) to be taken away immediately! Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.

I think you should fix what was said on the 5:00 news! It was said they both were on their way to work which is not the case. He was DRUNK and a retired cop I think her family at least deserves the truth to be told. The paper said he was DRUNK also so you should recant the live statement! thank you its all about the respect for the family do not make it harder on them.

i have met Wendy and her youngest daughter since she (her daughter) is my son's girlfriend. Wendy was a wonderful and caring mother. this I hope does not get swept under the rug because he was a retired state trooper, retired or not he should have to pay the price for his crime. He took a singal mom from her daughters, how fair is that? If he is out on bail i hope to God he is not drinking again.

as unfortunate and horrible as this is, it must be remembered that dave, a family friend, had a BAC of .05, well below the legal limit. he was NOT drunk, and those tests do not lie. i think we all need to remember that, as it could have just as easily been you. dave is a wonderful human being and made a terrible mistake of driving when exhausted. i'd like to clear up the fact that he was drunk... blowing a .05 is under the legal limit of .08. don't condemn him until all facts are present. my thoughts are with BOTH families

We all make mistakes. I'm sure all people on this board have at one time drove tipsy, sleep, upset or in any other way that could cause a dangerous collision.
The loss of a life is a sad thing. Do not make it any worse with nasty comments.
