Actually, Local 210 wasn't busted at all. The International Union had a president who was supposed to testify before Congress on corruption allegations against him... Instead, he said he'd kick out the mob (who paid him and his father for eyars). So Local 210 hired a bunch of lawyers and x-FBI agents...With no proof, no legit trials or hearings, without any tru reasoning, they kicked out anyone they THOUGHT was linekd to the Mafia. Now the Laborers are worthless and can't even get contracts, and are too scared to do anythign about it. The Mob ruined the union??? NO NO NO, corrupt people in power found a way to have "Guilty until proven otherwise" ...This is America, the Todaro's have never been convicted of anything...none of them.

Right, so i am just imagining the arrests of fino, maggadino, dicarlo...etc. Todaro was the local's financial officer. TOO FUNNY...has any other organization on earth ever has a financial offer who lacked a college education?

Why lie about something so easily researchable?

I'm going to be back in Buffalo around the 1st of June and I'll straighten out some of you nit-wits.
The best this city ever operated at was when Frank Sedita was mayor and Frank Felliceta was the police commisioner. Charles J. Montana was elected "man of the year" and everyone in Buffalo was prosperous. There were jobs and money to spend like never before. I wonder who was behind that? When the "mob" was active, you didn't have all these "wannabes" shooting each other and having children running their drug deals. You want to point finger? Find out who's behind the drug actiities on the East & West sides. Don't blame the colored or hispanics either. Get real!!! You're letting the terrorist win!!!

No, mamma, Magaddino was never convicted of anything. DiCarlo was a tru Capone-type gangster with 40+ arrests, BUT NONE SINCE THE 60s... Things have changed. Fino was a joke, and even he hadn't been convicted since the 70s. Montana, the guy was elected to the City Council for the first time in '28, sure, he was the #2/#3 man, but he died over 40 years ago...HOW COULD YOU BE USING HIM TO LINK THE TODARO'S????? THINGS HAVE CHANGED SINCE THEN, and it goes to strengthen the point that all we can do is speculate or assume...NEVER PROVE A DAMN THING!!!
Talk about Falzone or Sonny Nicoletti, Johnny Catz or even BiFulco, maybe you could make a plea that something still exists, albeit mostly gambling, but nothing like it used to...and the Todaro's, forget it, they are barely linked to anything besides speculation...PROVE ME WRONG...show me where they were really linked. Some guys in LIUNA didn't like them... RESEARCH THE TRUTH...In the US, it's innocent until proven guilty, and if you REALLY think the Todaro's have been mob bosses for 25+ years without so much as an arrest, let alone a conviction...then we need a new criminal justice system cuz you single-handedly can prove more than they ever did with your newspaper "research"...It's pretty safe to say the mob isn't "active" locally anymore...No arrests in forever...They got Mambrino and Catanzaro years back on Grant Street, but that was a f----in joke of a trumped up card game. What, are you gonna say Guercio's stuffs kilos in their fruit??? Or LaNova's runs dime bags below the peperoni's!! HAHAHA, funny stuff...research HISTORY all you want, the mob here was powerful and colorful, but now a days, forget it...The Todaro's have never been linked, unlike any of the others mentioned, so why bust their balls even more...They're good people...

i am picking on all mafia, not just todaros. to tell me it doesnt exist (especially in Niagara County) is ridiculous. I can point you to endless news artiles over just the last five years. Hell last summer a legit contractor had his house blown up for not backing out of city contracts in the falls. Another guy was hung off the goat island bridge above the rapids untill he saw things their way.

I guarantee you that if the city of Buffalo's books were opened, and contracts reviewed for the past 10 years, lots of people would be going to jail.

Again, the article in the USA today was just in 2002. If someone wrote that about me, with the FBI as its source, i would have sued the crap outa someone. Yet they didnt.

I agree that its not what it once was, thankfully. Now its mainly stupid punks with oversized egos and dreams of sapranos graduer. However to say it doesnt exist is just foolish

Do you know how much money Fino got paid to say all that...not discrediting him, but for being a "double agent" for 20 years and banking an FBI salary, they couldn't even use him. He whored it out and convinced the Laborers what to say regarding corruption allegations. HIS DAD WAS THE FRONT BOSS IN THE 70s...HIS BROTHER WAS A CAPTAIN...he doesn't mention a damn thing about that though...all lies...

...reading way too much Mike Hudson are we????? Do you really think Local 91 is mobbed up???? hahaha, not at all...way back when-the BFLO/Falls mob put a contract on Butch's life because he wasn't giving mobsters anything besides control of pension. 91 woludn't bring on no shows or award "Mafia-approved contractors" ... and they paid no attention to Local 210. Butch's brother was a 'made' guy with Sansanese's crew, he stopped the hit, but the mob (and supposedly the powerful 210) just said the hell with it and let Butch run 91 his own way. Local 91 was never mobbed up, paid no tribute, had no respect for the mobsters...they stomped their feet and the "allegedly active mob" did nothing. Just like the Cain tree-trimmers, it was a band of criminals extorting people...Even Lee Cappola says the Family is dead now...& he'd know better than most reporters.
They say the mob's got Joey Pugliese in Hamilton running his uncle Johnny Pops' old gambling rackets...and they say Benny & Russ Carcone are both running gambling in Utica since Johnny Catz got old-returned to BFLO-passed away, Rochester's vacant and there's nothing organized out there any more. A few gambling places here and there, but these guys don't have control of industries anymore, and that makes it a lot harder to extort legit business -- a company can say f---you to the mob with no reprisals. Jimmy Caci's in California, he's maby the only true BFLO mafia power left, but he's working for himself and LA, not Buffalo. The Falzone's have too much heat, BiFulco is in jail, and msot everyone else passed away. Not that they weren't a power, but just not anymore. Members sons are police now. OR, the nephew of a big time mobster is running a furniture store (BOI) and financial guy for Giambra - but you know what, it's not even connected to the mob.

Look at pure economics of the region. There's not as much mom & pop stores anymore, and I can guess it's hard to extort Target...maybe Joe's Restaurant somewhere, but not McDonald's. The unions don't control labor anymore, so that ones out. The Blacks, hispanics, and whites can deal their own drugs wihtout any relation to the mob. Prositutes are run by localized pimps who aren't organized or even simply by themselves. There's no hard core Italian district anymore, so they can't even recruit new members to fill their ranks. "This Thing of Ours" simply can't do what it used to anymore...it's not Tony Soprano land, it's some old guys in an old town...not much left for them. Even BiFulco, a friend came to him and asked him how to torch a car...the Feds arrested him (20 years). That's not Mafia, that's an independent scheme that was blown out of proportion...these guys simply don't have what they used to...for several reasons. The Mafia in WNY was one fo the most pwoerful in history...but all across the country, none of the Families have what they used to - especially not Buffalo/Falls!!

sure was better in the falls when they ran things, it was a booming place. Then the wanna bees can in and screwed it all up. to bad, we need the streets under control again, you know the police are not going to do it.
