My daughter was sexually harassed by an employee of the casino. He is a manager of a department, not hers but the departments are about 12 to 20 feet away from each other . He verbally abused her with sexual remarks and touched her. He was given a 3 day suspension, basically a slap on the wrist. She was told he was harmless and was expected to return to work, this was by the Human Resources Manager . They basically work the same schedule, so she would see him frequently. The company handbooks states this is grounds for dismissal. She had to quit her job that she loved because he was making her uncomfortable. We can't find any lawyers that deal with the Indian Nation. We look forward to any help from anyone. Thanks.

Good luck. Very few will take a case involving them. MOST DO NOT know indian law anyway. Believe that? Even the courts at the nation don't know indian law. They make up their own as they go along. Fair? Nope but what ya gonna do about it?
Best of luck to your daughter. She probably did the right thing by quitting because they would ALL be harrassing her because of this.

Call the NY BAR ASSOCIATION! They should be able to assist you. If the one in Buffalo doesn't help, call the statewide one.... this local agency can provide you with the number.
Remember..the legal system likes to play games in this state, but don't be discouraged..they only get away with what the taxpayer allows them to ....fight for your rights!

Now, you all know the true meaning of SOVREIGN... you cant touch them and they police themselves.....This goes for personal injury as well. If you get hurt in their casino, too bad.....or robbed, or poisoned by bad food....or hurt in a fire, etc......You are on your own in a casino......You have NO rights in their land.....

Though they have their own marshals, the state police do have jurisdiction on the reservation. You are not totally helpless if something happens on the reservation.

Sovereign, yes BUT still under the Federal Government, which has the final say over how things are done because they are still funded by them.
True sovereignty means they have their own schools, banks, hospitals, etc. For instance Red Lake Rez in Minnesota!
