IN a a bare-knuckle street fight sanctioned by both the bikers and cops, BPD's toughest Irish cop pulped the President of the RV MC. After that fight, they relocated their clubhouse. Ray Hill did a story on it. Back then, your word actually meant something.
----------
In the 60's-70's the BPDs TPU was the most feared and respected Tac Unit in upstate NY. It was made up of 6'+ Irish and Eyetie's. They responded by busload and cracked heads when some bikers ran amok at the what was then the 1st Allentown Arts Fest. They also took care of the UB riots - yeah before UB was all jews and Asians, the kids actually rioted.

Dude I remember those days of the TPU....you stayed clear of those maniacs. One of my good buddies, "Narf" was one of them before he went to bikes. Wild bunch for sure.

Key Words:“back then”. Key lesson, wasn’t that Copper twice the size of that Biker? I heard it wasn’t a one sided battle either! Heard that biker gave him a good go. In fact I give them both credit. BPD blocked the street while matters were settled.

Back then, a Cop would take his badge off and go scraps. Try it with the new breed of tenderfoots. Nowadays, nobody has Honor, only corruption in even our highest Government Offices.

Who’s fishing for information on the Vultures? They don’t exist. I think the ATF got them on bootlegging Ensure to the people in the Old Age homes? And the Cop’s, I guess they won the famous fight. They are now the most powerful corrupt gang in the City. They get paid for not even working. Some even know the AFRO-DOGS!

I was fishing for info on my cousin Tommy Bell. I know the Road Vultures are no longer a club. Thanks for the info that Ray Hill did a story on the fight. I'll have to check it out.

Thanks again.

Didn’t mean to come across that way Darlene and my apologies too the Club as well, if they unknowingly exist? My post is not due to lack of respect but rather response to an unwarranted fishing expedition for information, which may exist by certain Buffalo related entities.

The Road Vultures to my understanding went through leadership changes (after Tom) as result of a willingness to get away from senseless violence. Their get-togethers used to welcome people from all walks of life and their very loosely knit Club served to mend hard feelings between factions many times. Never trouble at their get-togethers and if there was, it was never instigated by RV and quickly handled. Their members seemed to understand that life is short and you may as well have a good time here. There are some peaceful clubs out there, whose members like nothing more than to just ride and enjoy each other’s company. RV tops that list.

My respects for Tommy. Doc has it right!

Back in the middle to late 60's, the Road Vultures were an interesting and vigorous club. They were artists as well as bikers. They had festivals and symposiums. The highly regarded commercial artist Spain Rodrigues was a member before going to NYC.
Charley Pfohl was a member and died after being shot by the accidental discharge of a police service revolver after a traffic stop Oct 28, 1967.
After a local club in Lowell, Mass. was patched over in 1967, the local Buffalo Chosen Few were approached to patch over to the 81, they declined but the RVMC did, along with the Hackers of Rochester, in December of 1969. The local Buffalo chapter was frozen because of a lack of active members due to arrests in the early 70's.
