<quoted text>Well get some balls and come down and find out.
You don't know s--- about what you are talking about.
See even if the volunteer firefighters don't have the training they have they have respect for them because they know what the volunteer has to go through.
They know just like them the volunteer puts their lives on the line to save others.
In fact we have to do more then they do, they don't man an EMT squad, they don't do missing person searches, or have to go out on the lake to rescue people year round.[ some of the fire depts along the lake even have rescue divers and boats with full scuba gear, for water rescues.]
There are a lot of things the Volunteer firefighters have to do that the paid firefighters don't do.
So you don't know a thing about what a volunteer firefighter does.
You are just so screwed up because your father was afraid that if the city ever looked into just what he really knew or did they would find out most volunteer firefighters were a lot better than he would ever be.
Have a nice night
This guy was a Blackthorn and he thought volunteer firemen were a joke
How do you like the fact he collected on his pension for 38 years?

Life you picked a great example of a paid fire fighter is.
I love it, here is a guy that couldn't hold down a job in the steel ind., auto ind, couldn't sell roofing or sideing, couldn't even make it working on the R.R. or even at the post office, He couldn't even watch the boilers in one public school with out messing up NO wonder he had to become a paid firefighter he couldn't do anything else.
Your dad and this guy probably spent all day and half the night at the blackthorn club and had to go to the fire house to sleep it off,
what other job could you go in drunk, lay down and sleep it off and get paid for it?
Have a nice night

Seeing as this guy turned 18 years old in 1931, I would imagine he was laid off a few times, so he was looking for something more secure

Why don;t you go down to that restaurant and see if you can find one of the current members of the real Blackthorn's. Have them look this guy up in the records, and then go move your Protestant, fake fireman mouth about the guy and see what happens

Why would I want to find out about some old irish drunk that couldn't keep a job at the Buffalo school system watching the boilers, or at the post office.
A guy that had to find some type of job where they would cover his a-- when he came in drunk all the time and where he had a place to sleep it off, You know the more I think about it he sounds like your dad.
and I see that you never make typos, TEH is just one and you have had others, You know as well as I do Hundred was a typo and it was cliff and at about 3 am I do make typos the t is just over the f, and unlike you I never had typing classes that is why I can type THE and not teh.
I guess I must have POed you a little seeing every time somebody pi--es you off you make post after post after post about them.
Well I hope this post helps you out.
Have a good night

You people are putting down an elderly man of 98, who has passed on! You might want to think real hard about that one. If he were "your" dad would you stand for it?

Although this is an old conversation, I'd like to put in my two cents for posterity. First, I'd like to as any fireman how exactly they were trained to put out fires caused by jet fuel. I'm pretty sure spraying water all over a jet fuel fire is not a good plan. Next, how hard is it to get through a door leading to safety when it is blocked by a fully pressurized fire hose? As I understand it, the firemen BLOCKED the doors to the stairs with a fire hose that was going to shoot WATER onto a jet fuel fire! The road to hell is paved by good intentions as they say...
