Another scam to make people believe they are safe! No way can this high priced contraption be of any good use in a city area like Chippewa. 30 ft in the air just ain't gonna do it! The old command post bus had a high tech camera on it that could be raised higher then 30 feet. Lot of good it did!

It's not the height of the camera that's the problem, it's the overpaid union donut eaters on the ground.

I'm glad Buffalo continues to show superior intellect and use of our money. Homeland Security funds are being spent to keep drunk white trash and negroes from killing each other and barfing on parked cars while Mexicans are running wheelbarrows full of drugs across our borders, taking up residence and cashing in on our benefits. Drugs are not the only thing coming across the borders but I'm sure we all agree this is a better way to spend money designated to combat terrorism. Fucking retards.

Would you care to expand on that comment? What do you believe the actual problem is with the ground troops?

Do you salute him?
We do not salute in our Department! Name me one Commissioner who WASN'T a political hack. That is one qualification, if not the MAIN qualification, to BE a Commissioner!

Besides, I never heard of a degreed sociologist being a Commissioner either.

Have you ever heard of a degreed sociologist claiming to be able to carry a handgun in all 50 States & US Territories? Life Coach keeps spouting off that he can in the Guns forum especially in the "I keep my gun in my car trunk" forum. He claims that he was given the privilege in 2004 by president George W Bush.

The problem starts at the top and rolls down the hill. The brass, supervisors, patrol are all "on the ground".

How is it that Times Square in NYC can go from one of the seediest places on Earth to a great SAFE tourist destination that sees waaaaaaaaaay more visitors? It's a police PRESENCE. There should be 2 cops on every corner throughout the entire 'entertainment' district, and more on the weekend and special events. I'm sure there's some sort of union rule against that though.

No. There is no such union rule. The City would never pay to post cops on every corner. They have Chippewa Details on Friday and Saturday nights and when special events are going on.

Well maybe they need to up the details? The City would make back the cost with more people going downtown. Personally, I know a whole bunch of people that wont go downtown. If they aren't worried about their personal safety, they're worried about their vehicle. A heavy police presence , at the very least, gives people a sense of security. how many cops are on the Chippewa detail for an average weekend night?

They could always pay off duty, real cops,(such as Town of Tonawanda) to walk beats on weekends. Buffalo cops are a bunch of whining wussies who are afraid to get out of their vehicles for real crimes, like the ones that take place on Chippewa every weekend.

The Police Department has no problem increasing the details. Mayor Casey refuses to pay the OT to increase police presence and protection. In fact, minimum manpower levels are constantly lowered throughout the City to save money even though the City reports a budget surplus on a yearly basis.

The Chipp Detail consists of 10 Police Officers between Delaware And Pearl Sts on Friday and Saturday nights.

Where would they get the money to pay these off duty cops?

Besides, I never seen a Cop walking a beat in Tonawanda. I guess they're too busy fighting all the real crime up there.
