I can not believe just how much information local employers are trying to snag from the average Joe or Jane when trying to fill out a simple application form.
It seems to me like you people around here are trying to conspicuously purge this state into another "Right to Work" state by having the applicant to agree to terms like employment will be terminated with no cause or notice unless otherwise through a collective bargaining agreement.
Here's another thing which I find to be illegal. Since when did an employer need this much personnal information and heres a perfect example word for word from a generic application I picked up today.
I authorize an investigation of all matters outlined in this application. I hereby give the company and/or its designated subscriber permission to contact previous employers, doctors, medical providers, references, and to conduct investigatve background inquires on me including consumer credit, criminal convictions, motor vehicle and other reports from various federal, state and other agencies that maintain records related to the above mentioned items, as well as claims records on file at insurance companies. I release the company and any person giving or recieving any such information for purpose related to my employment from liability as a result of such contacts.
I'm sorry but I think this is just slightly above and beyond the point of extreme violation of privacy issues. Unless this company is running some kind of covert operation or one is applying for a top secret clearance I think this is too radical and unjustifiable.
for crying out loud it was for a cleaning position at a conference center not the freaking White House!

I'm beginning to think that theres a bunch of fascist neocon collective thinking behind this.
Since I've come back I've hardly come across people of color working behind the counters or really working anywhere for that matter. Where the hell are you hiding these people? Niagara Falls and Buffalo is beginning to look and have the prejudicial look of some states in the south.
Get the muskeets and the rebel flags flying at full staff because this area is starting to have that essence.
If I would have known you people were going to make it this difficult to find employment i never would have come back here.

One last thing if I in the event I did sign the back of this application and handed it in could this company still obtain this much information without having to recruit me?

If your a drug or alcohol addict and have very little work ethics then western NY is very accomadating. Now somebody new once they got me here there would be very little chance of finding employment and they were going to make sure that it wasn't going to happen.

buffalo has a huge african american population but you don't see many of them working because a large percentage of them are on welfare and medicade in fact they are on it generation after generation and they have a high school graduation rate of about 40 percent so i guess they are happy being slaves to the government that feeds them

I dont give them my full SS#, unless they interview me and tell me they are interested and then I'll provide it if they want to run a backround check on me. Dont be just putting your private info out everywhere, all you hear about is companies getting their data hacked by ID thieves.
