It is rumored that the new Erie Bishop has already been selected and the formal announcement will be made when the Pope returns from vacation in August or September. The new Bishop candidates are the current Auxilary Bishop of Pittsburgh, the current Bishop of either Juneau or Anchorage (can't remember which one), Alaska, who prior was from Pittsburgh, or the current Rector of the National Basilica in Washington, D.C. The last 2 Bishops have been from Cleveland and BuUffalo, so maybe one from Pittsburgh will be appointed. By the way, Bishop Grosz has a brother that lives in Erie; so who knows, maybe he's a darkhorse candidate.
Get his 'secret life' to the public before you appoint Grosz for anything!

Bishop Matthew Clark of Rochestr is about to submit his letter of resignation. I wonder who will get that diocese. Definitely not any from the DOB.

As soon as Benedict XVI finishes fixing the last bugs with the Society of St. Pius X, a large church will be assigned / donated to the Latin Mass people and they will fill it!
Which one will it be? St. John Gualbert, St. Casimir, St. Ann's?

As of last report,it doesn't look like there's going to be any rapprochement between SSPX and Benedict XVI.

Priest at STA and St. Martin's under investigation. People have been called in. He has been taking checks from parish for himself claiming they are living expenses. STA is being treated like crap by him. People want to know where money is going and are calling D.A. Thousands of dollars on food and to pay for his own private house. Priest told people he can't live in new rectory because he doesn't like it. Writes checks to himself to cover expenses at his private house. Other priests there also took checks.

By any chance, did he learn this trick from Jacek Mazur?

It was well known fact that John C. was receiving $50 per hour for his maintenance work while at Grosz's parishes in the Falls. Was that for 'gardening' around the churches, or for something 'else?'

Bishop Grosz and the gardener? Parallels the case of Stepehn Muth of the Eparchy of Parma,(bishopaccountabiliy, Kansas City.) If there is any credence to these rumors about Grosz, he will not be getting any diocese, and if it's really serious he may be forced into retirement.

This guy has ALWAYS lived in Canada.(Makes it a little difficult to say daily Mass in winter.) One clarification...In order to cover the Masses, he must get the retired priests to fill in from the home at the cemetary. They are compensated as well they should be. STA has a different priest everyday and the actual grounds have gone to hell. Third floor windows are open with no screens, lights on at weird times, and a solid parish has been left to rot. This was Judge's plan since he came to St. Martin's. It would be nice if people woke up and did something about this.

It has been well known that Jim doesn't live at the rectory but he does keep a room there. I didn't know he was charging the parish for his choice not to live there. Sounds like he is taking advantage of the people. Malone was known for enforcing priests to live in the rectory as is canon law.

Actually, he brought John with him to St. Stans in Buffalo and was paying him $50 an hour to do the gardening. One must admit that it was a lucrative position. I'm not sure what other jobs he did.

Everytime I go to STA for Mass, it is Fr. Barry who is a wonderful preacher!
And, every time I "just stop in" at St. Martin's Fr. judge is there either saying Mass or in his office. This is much more than I can say about a number of other priests that I know. And I just drove by STA and commented to myself that the grounds look pretty good, considering the drought, and I noticed the perfectly trimmed hedges, and the flourishing pots near the front door. Someone is watering and caring for the place. And I noticed some work being done refinishing the beautiful oak doors of the Church.
