As the holiday season approaches, many families in WNY do not have the financial ability to provide a joyous holiday for their children. Local groups offer help in several ways to the very poor, but there are few programs for the "working poor." I would like to help these people with much needed assistance. My goal is to find caring people who can help with the basics such as food and warm clothing to those people who work yet need a little help making christmas special for their children as it really is a childrens holiday. Please let me know what you need, or what you can give. Let's show people what Buffalo and WNY is truly maade of. Let's put the Merry back in Christmas!

I am a mother of two and both my husband and I work. We do not qualify for food stamps or public assistance, but we struggle to eat every week. Gas prices are taking a huge bite this year, and we are in need of some help. If you could help us with Holiday food or cookie ingredients, please resond. Thanks!

My husband has always worked very hard to provide for our three children. This year I am trying to apply for SSI or Disability, we already get foodstamps & Medicaid. We have reasently had a death in family & with the added cost of that and numerous other problems I am very scared that my kids wont have even 1 item under the tree this year. My girls are 16 ( with bipolar & depression issues) & 14 ,I know DO understand, but my 10yr old son is going to have a really hard time finding nothing under the tree. I dont know where to go or what to do for help. We live in the kenton school district, should i try the school?? ANY ideas or help would be sincerely appreciated. Thank-you , Desperate Mom @ [email protected]

It is so nice to know that there are good people out there. I am struggling to make christmas special for my boys but I can only do what I can do and right now that isn't much. Any help would be greatly greatly appreciated. Every year I keep hoping that this will be the year that I can actually help another family in need and each year it seems I'm part of the family that needs help. My email is [email protected]

I am a single mother of two children, and am currently 7 months pregnant. Although my situation is a little different, I am looking for some help in providing a nice Christmas for my 10 year old son and 5 year old daughter. I was recently terminated from my position atwork and being as far along in the pregnancy as I am, I am not having any luck in finding another job. I had to explain to my 10 year old that there is no such thing as Santa, because I know that I cannot afford to fullfill his Christmas list this year. I am used to struggling at this time of year, but have never been this bad off, because I am used to working. If anyone would be willing to help us out this Christmas season, it would be greatly appreciated fromthe bottomof our hearts.

If anyone out there can help me out with a few presents for my kids it would be greatly appreciated. I work full time, my husband just started to work, and I don't qualify for public assistance of any kind because I make more than poverty level income. Unfortuanatly poverty level income barely pays the bills. I know it is getting late, but if anyone can help please email me at [email protected] (My son is eight, my daughter seven.)

I am in need of help. I am a disabled mom of 5 great kids ages 5,6,10,12, and 14. My husband was laid off and do not have the means to have a great Christmas for our kids. It is not the kids fault that I cannot afford gifts for the so I do not want to suffer because of our situation. Any help will do. God had blessed us in many ways and I believe we will get the help we need one way or another. Please help us this Christmas.

I have always worked to take care of my family sometimes are better than others but this past year has been very hard on my family. My husband lost his job because our car started on fire and he wasn't able to make it on time to work when they changed the start time from 7am to 6am his unemployment has run out and I'm the only one working I have a good job but I don't make enough to pay everything and give my children Christmas as well. What do you do its either buy groceries and make sure they have a roof over their heads and warmth or buy them gifts and Christmas dinner...We just lost both of our dogs to them eating poison and my children are just sad they tell me its OK mom we don't need anything and I can't imagine how they will feel when there is nothing for Christmas its impossible to get any help because I work I'm just so tired of hearing the word sorry you don't qualify for help. I feel like I have failed my children and there really isn't anything I can do about it. Thanks for listening.
