Dave, I would be happy to forward you information on not onnly the employees who were directly exposed, but also the depleted uranium info from Bethlehem. I just began working with this group one week ago and I have been researching all of the issues ever since. The more people know about this issue, the more involvement by ex-employees the better.

my father worked at Beth Steel for 42 years died of cancer, lung cancer, we lived in Bethlehem Park in the late 40's I was born in 45 and have a damaged DNA and have Ankolosing Spondilities, due to a missing gene in my DNA. Could this have been caused by the Uranium deposits that were stored therre? I can be reached at jmarie1945@yahoo.com. I want to know what my options are in the class action lawsuit.

Does the cause of death have to be cancer, or is COPD with asbestos presence enough? My dad worked @ the plant for yrs, & suffered terribly from respiratory problems, but never had a diagnosis of cancer. Anyone have any idea? Thanks!
I'm glad that some people are getting compensation, it's a shame so many had to suffer for so long!

Dave, go to this website for info:
http://www.dol.gov/owcp/energy
As long as your Dad worked there during the affected times & has a diagnosis of cancer you'll qualify, according to the website info.
My Dad did & after getting alot of paperwork together, it was a very simple process, the hardest part was the wait! My Dad had multiple skin cancers & we were able to get the award. It is $150,000 or nothing. If your Mom is alive it would be awarded to her, if not & you have siblings, it's divided amonst the surviving children.
The people with the DOL & NIOSH were great to work with. There is a local office (in Amherst): NY Energy Compensation Resource Center 1-800-941-3943, which may be helpful
Good luck, wishing for good news for you!:)

In what part of the plant was uranium rolled? I worked in the 13 Inch Bar Mill- which is still operating today - I heard some talk that it was the 10 inch Bar mill that shares the same structural building as the 13 Inch.

Thanks for the info. Should all the survivors & their siblings recieve a seetlement, it's a small price to pay for what BSC & the USG has done to our fathers & other family members. There is no admission to guilt from either party. Remember that you have THE RIGHT TO KNOW. RIP VPC.

Linda,
It has been a long while since you posted on this forum, but I hope that you still receive updates when this forum receives a new post. I currently work for a company that assists former energy workers, such as those at the Bethlehem plant, as well as others in the Buffalo area, with their submissions for compensation as well as their submissions for approval for medical treatment (such as in-home nursing services, medical equipment, etc). I would love to speak with you concerning the information you gathered on the Bethlehem plant. We are always looking for ways to expand our reach to help as many potential EEOICPA beneficiaries as possible. Please respond to this post if you are still listening. Also, I'd be glad to help anyone else who many need help as well. Thanks
Chris
