Protestants belong to the Holy Catholic church that does not recognize the Pope. The Roman Catholic church does recognize the Pope and the Vatican dogma. In the year 1517 Martin Luther was a German Augustinian Monk (he was a catholic) whose aim it was to reform the tyrannical ways of the Papacy. That was the start of Protestant and Catholics and the reformation of the church.

Life Coach doesn't know much, if anything, about his Catholic history. He doesn't know about the Spanish Inquisition or about the Jews who were denied refuge in Italy by order of the Pope. Historically speaking, the Roman Catholic church does not have a benevolent track record. You owe it to yourself to check it out.

However you feel about Protestants or Catholics, keep in mind that Life Coach is only using Topix to incite people against each other.

You are a bot confused. The Catholic Church considers properly baptized Protestants to be part of the Catholic Church, although in an imperfect way....like a stained glass window missing some sections.

It is the Protestants who do not consider themselves Catholic

By the way, "Catholic" means UNIVERSAL
The really sad part

On the contrary, Protestants do consider themselves Catholics, belonging to the Holy Catholic Church. Catholics as defined today belong to the Roman Catholic Church. They are a universal church with differences in dogma and some rituals. When a person becomes baptized he cannot become unbaptized and then baptized again (as in converting from Protestant to Catholic. Therefore, if you are baptized you are Catholic in the sense that you are universal in the belief, with all other Christians, that you believe that Jesus is our Lord and Saviour. One who has not been baptized will be baptized at the time of his conversion or joining of either Holy or Roman Catholic faiths. There is no "imperfection" in any baptism. The Roman Catholic Church requires only that anyone joining the Church takes the "Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults" to learn the faith.

You seem to have a very "holier than thou opinion" about being a Roman Catholic which doesn't say much for your knowledge of being a Christian.

If a conversation about religion is lame to you, go find something else to complain about.

Go and call a Baptist a "Catholic" and he will take a swing at you

Baptists are a conservative off-shoot of the Protestant Reformation (later known as the Holy Catholic Church). They advocate a strict adherence to the Bible and its teachings. They strongly believe in the separation of church and state and don't recognize the Pope or Vatican as a leader, believing instead that Jesus Christ is their true leader. I suppose we could equate this with taking out the "middle man". They aren't opposed to Roman Catholics at all. Instead they have always been involved with the reading of scripture whereas the Roman Catholic mass was for many years conducted in Latin and Roman Catholics attended church to follow the ringing of the bell, understanding nothing else except they should "be there". Catholics started catching up when they decided to speak so the parishioners could understand God's word.

As far as trolls go, that was a really weak response. Can't you come up with something more imaginative? Got shamed off the Rochester boards, did ya'?

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Sagittarius

A loved one gets hold of the wrong end of the stick today, causing endless hassle and fuss. They're likely to get upset in the process, so you have to calm them down, and that could lead to a squabble. You may also have to cope with discord when discussing family matters, with certain people getting bogged down in daft details that you think have nothing to do with the main issue.
