You will not have to worry about that. The cops are too busy at the dounuts shops to check to see if there is any hot scrap out there. It is just more paper work.

Yes! More laws, more police, more courts, more jails! That is what a civilized society is all about.

Laws = money for New York State.

Simple - those dealers that are less than credible will do multiple 'transactions' of less than $50 to criminals bringing in 'scrap' metals to avoid having to do this and to keep business thriving...

then you will also have those that will just take it anyways...

I agree 100% with what you said - multiple "transactions" or even more people involved making "transactions"

Yes, the thieves will have to show their "FAKE ID" which they bought from Latasha at the DMV.

Smart thinking.

3/4 of all scrap yards in WNY are crooked anyway. No law is gonna straighten them out.Case in point, Iron Mike out on Broadway in Depew buys stolen cars all the time, no paperwork, no questions asked. Same with all the yards out on Ransom Rd. in Lancaster. They ain't gonna change there ways because of some new law

not just the crack heads scap out iron but people with low income like myself scrap items out for extra cash now this is just an inconvience but i do not find it to be that big of a deal and the guy that said 3/4 of wny scrap yards are crooked because of no paper work he needs to look into it more because if he had any knowledge about it he would know that if you dont have a title you have to show photo ID and give vechile number

IT IS A SHAME THE NEGATIVITY AND SMART REMARKS THAT PEOPLE SHOW THIS LAW...IT ENFORCES CHANGE AND IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE METAL INDUSTRY THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IT ARE THE ONES "WHO HAVE A REASON TO BE"...THIEVES...I PRAISE THE STATE AND SCRAP YARDS FOR MAKING A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION

The next step will be that the scrap yard will have to issue you a 1099 form.

This will report to the IRS all your income from this scrapping business.

But, you do report is already now, right.

Some politicians have already recommended deducting an income tax from payments for bottle refunds at the return machines.

It is called creative tax collecting of unreported income.
